I've finally started carving the first (of two) blocks for the Periodic Table project that is due at the end of the month. I really hope that I can get it finished in time. When I had energy I seemed to have plenty of time so I focused on other things. Now that I don't have much time I have very little energy. I only carved for a little while with the air blasting and I am still exhausted.

WIP - Mosaic Mask by Victory Archaeology

This is a lifesize papier-mâché mask bought from a local craft store. The intention being to use it as an interesting substrate to which mosaic tiles can be applied. I gave it a thick coating of PVA to give it extra strength. The black is actually fabric mostly to give the inside a softer feel; meaning it 'could' be worn if the situation arose.

I've already begun appling silver mirror tiles to the surface to the main facial elements and a flowing design to the forehead.

WIP - broke out the brush and ink, and I was all over the place with bad lines. My painting approach to inking got in the way... so, this turns into an experiment now. Bad ink lines on the mountain... experimenting with texture. Sooo... ink-wash experimenting got mixed in... and I'm happy again... Let's see what else I mix in here... I'm sure it will look way better as I add other techniques.. mish-mosh of approaches here.. it WILL WORK in the end! Muahahahah!

This is my current work WIP The centre is a stamp. I don't really have a lot of stamps. I buy them to use in my embroidery cause I am not the greatest at drawing. The heart is Algerian eye, the leaves on the stamp are two shades of green button hole stitch. The purple honey comb is cretan stitch with bullion knot bees. purple. The pink row of flowers are detached chain, fly stich and bullion knots. The yellow is bullion knots. The pink flowers around the print are a braid.

The front section is surprisingly sturdy, I'm rather impressed. The core however leaves me stumped for now. I'll attack that tomorrow or Thursday. I think it needs more colors too. ;)
