Got cabin fever and spring fever at the same time. 70 degrees yesterday, snow today.'
Whiplash!
The one on the right is still a WIP. All I have to do is get LED's for the chest, and whips. The chest is Sculpy sculpted onto a piece. The hair is made out of Sculpy also. This was painted by me.

The debate between old-school Masters of the Universe, 200X MOTU, and MOTU Classics will continue for all eternity. However, with at least one character design, I've gotta side firmly with the 200x series.
Whiplash in the '80s was a weird repaint of Buzz-Off with an awkward back-tail and an orc head. They actually redid that version faithfully for the Classics series. But in 200X, he was turned into this awesome alligator-troll, one which, um, influenced how I'd deign something like an orc or a troll or an ogre if I owned a fantasy series. Awesome!

I once purchased an LP in a village late night store purely for the cover which was similar to this , except it was entitled Exciting . This picture taken moments later when the mood changed !

Last weekend my wife and two young sons gave me a longboard skateboard for my birthday. Top of the line, fast as hell, a fantastic board. My 7 year old wanted to take pictures of me riding it, and when my wife came out to watch, of course I had to show off - deeper kicks, sharper turns. Well I don't need to tell you what happened... Incredibly, my son caught it! That's me hitting the ground, getting skin abrasions, whiplash and a possible fractured rib. It's even funnier in the larger size.
Still hurts like hell, but I'm just so proud of my son for getting the shots!
Update: No fractured rib (maybe a hairline but nothing to puncture a lung), and I'm feeling a bit better now (10 days later...!). Thanks all for the well wishes and especially for laughing. I thought it was pretty damn funny too.
You know you've thought it. Made for the May Whiplash challenge: feeddog.blogspot.com/2007/05/ransom-note-small-quilt-whip...
I realized a while ago I hadn't done a shot of Whiplash using his alternate head. So with the Snake Mountain dio already set up for Poker Night I decided to get him out right quick and have a go at it.
Personally I much prefer the other "original version" head as this one doesn't really seem to fit with the body at all. Your mileage may vary.
The hair and chest plate are both made from Model Magic, and painted by me. The whips are made from light saber pieces, with glue on them. This is based off of him as seen in Iron Man 2.

The team from British Columbia made the first try at the space elevator competition at the XPrizeCup, but the ribbon oscillations (building up from the light winds) were too rough for the all but the smallest climbing machine (It reminded me of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge).
Here you see the solar cell mesh meant to capture energy from a ground-based laser pointing up parallel to the ribbon that extends out past geosynchronous orbit… surrounded by the exhausted UBC students. Competition included the Kansas City Space Pirates.

Whiplash was a real pleasure to work with, she really knew her stuff and offered some great poses. I also really like Jean's makeup job, a lovely vintage elegance.
