Mainly, spiders construct webs to trap potential victims, for food and predation. I suppose that spider's webs are like the worldwide web.

Lots of webs in the garden at the moment, but precious few spiders. They're probably all behind me...

This is the 'Rijntoren' in Arnhem. Conspicuous by its blue color and fine lines. From this point of view, I think it's just a big spider web.

Frosty spiders web on the railings by the wier at Etherow Country park, a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure what the spiders thought of Jack Frost's enhancements to their webs!
