I was mad at myself, pissed at the world

It was hard to get up, but I put one foot

In front of the other, kept on keepin' on

Going through the motions until

There was no hard feelings

And no bad vibes

I can honestly say

I'm happy to see the happy back in your eyes

You found somebody

Who painted your grey skies blue

Do I wish it was me? Hell yeah

Am I all the way over the pain? Not yet

But the sun keeps coming up, baby

And I'm still breathing

And there's no hard feelings

Summer is coming .... right?

- Keefer Lake, Ontario, Canada -

It was just a very ordinary walk in the same Helsinki suburb surroundings, still with patches of ice here and there, but sun already was shining warmer and friendlier than a couple of weeks ago. And then behind a turn of the path opened a view over a little bay, and sunlight fell on the tops of last year dropworts in so marvelous angle that all the scene was flooded with light... I deliberately let the flare come into the photo, because it reveals the feeling from that moment like fairies would be dancing in the branches and chasing the winter away. :-)

Jasper does not like it when I interrupt him in the library, especially when there is magic happening. Sorry bud, I'll let you get back to it.

An outtake from last weekend’s library shoot. I thought the look I was getting was funny. The shot I posted Sunday is in the first comment

I was up early on the day I had a long drive (this picture was taken at 4:00am) and this gave me the chance to see another lovely sunrise. The fishermen in this trawler were obviously up even earlier than I was as they leave for the day's fishing!

There was a time when I use to go on climbs like this and never brought a camera. At a certain point in my life I decided that it wasn't fair not to share these moments of pure awe with the people that would appreciate them. I started bringing my camera with me to these plces high in the sky where at the end of the day the light reaches out for one last kiss of the earth.

This was taken on an occasionally perilous drive along the Newlands Valley in the Lake District. This is one of the less photographed areas in that part of the world for some reason but has some really spectacular viewpoints. Having given the matter some considerable thought, perhaps “perilous drive” might just explain the “less photographed” bit .....

Apparently there was too much trash on this property for the Junk Yard Dog. He ran off after seeing the squalor he would be forced to live in. This house is abandoned even though it’s condition doesn’t look too bad from the outside. There is the obligatory refrigerator on the porch. It still needs a sofa on the porch before it can be declared a Class A Historic Junk Yard Landmark. You will note that there are several trailers, a tractor, two boats and a camper. More than enough to label it as a Class B Landmark.

This is the last property off this rural road. This dirt driveway is private property, so I’d like to know where the power lines are going. HTT

The village was incorporated in 1848.

At around 11:00 pm on September 23, 1916, Phoenix was nearly completely devastated by a fire that destroyed most of the business district, killing 1 person. The fire knocked out use of the fire fighting pumps that the village relied on. The fire lasted until early morning of the 24th.

Oswego Canal Lock 1 is located beside Culvert Street, off Main Street (County Road 57). It was built around 1911, and has a lift of 10.2 ft (3.11 m) to the south.[4] Just north of the canal lock is a heel trunnion single-leaf bascule bridge carrying Culvert Street which raises up when the downstream gates of the lock are opened in order to provide adequate clearance for passing marine vessels

The arch was designed by Aston Webb, who also designed the Victoria Memorial and the new façade of Buckingham Palace at the other end of the Mall.

Through this arch on Saturday, 6th May, Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort will make this way from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in procession known as ‘The King’s Procession’.

And after the Service, Their Majesties will return to Buckingham Palace by the same way in a larger ceremonial procession, known as ‘The Coronation Procession’. Their Majesties will be joined in this procession by other Members of the Royal Family.

At Buckingham Palace, The King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial events.

I was so lucky to get this lifer owl with a couple. It was extremely difficult one hour hiking in the wet slippery raining day. No pain, no gain as people said. But Mother nature gave me a little break when I found the owls, it stopped raining. I got a few minutes to photograph these beautiful owls before I lost sun light. Thanks so much for your comments, favorite and views.

Special thanks: Rick

And stand so green and clear

Is intimate and near.

I was surprised to see this colorful red flat bark beetle out today since we've had temperatures well below freezing already, but I guess it found some protected place to hide then - helped out by anti-freeze produced in its body to survive the cold winter. These neat beetles are very flat when seen from the side and can squeeze into very tight cracks in a tree trunk. They live under loose bark on trees and eat small mites and spiders.

while some trees of the tenderer kind had been nipped by the frosts into brilliant dyes of orange, purple, and scarlet.... :-) Washington Irving, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

Polly was a lutina budgerigar that arrived to our family together with Pino the torquise one) in 2017. Throughout the years we have lost some of our budgerigars for different reasons. We have had 6 budgies in total and now only 2 are remaining. Last night Polly took her last breath,

As you can see in the picture Pino wanted to mate with her and for this reason we put a nest for them to start a family. Unfortunately Polly was too sick to procreate but instead she found a place to spend her last weeks of life. She was happy, fed by Pino and had everything she needed in her 5 years of life...

Polly rest well wherever your soul is ....you were a true beautiful yellow lutina bird that gave so much to our whole family and to both Pino and Lisa, that are both calling and missing you today!

I'm very sad today but will soon get back to comment and fave all your photos....

King of road racing and Queen of elegance. This 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Berlinetta Speciale. was built for competition (the C) and yet would transport a couple at very high speed in complete comfort and class. In many ways, the 2900B Lungo Berlinetta was the finest closed car produced in the pre-war era. Built with race-proven engineering and with a style of unsurpassed elegance, these fastback Alfas are among the finest cars in world.

On the track, the 2900 competition cars benefited from a decade of Alfa Romeo progress and became the most successful of their time. A trio of 2900As placed first-second-third at the 1936 Mille Miglia, while three specially built 2900MMs accomplished the same feat at the 1938 edition. The decision to make a road-going variant of these winning designs must have been easy.

Touring of Milan was responsible for almost the entire production of 2900B bodies and their exceptional ‘Coupé Superleggra’ or ‘Coupé Ultraleggro Aeroprofilato’ took advantage of the Lungo chassis and exaggerated it with a huge rear overhang. In total, Touring constructed only around 10 of these masterworks. The 2900 chassis was outfitted very similar to the competition cars.

The engine was similar to the Tipo B unit but was made from new castings in aluminum instead of magnesium. They retained a 10-main bearing crankshafts that sat in white metal babbits. The cylinder head was cast integral to the block with hemispherical combustion chambers and domed pistons. The valvetrain and axillary devices were all gear driven.

The men responsible for this model were engineer Vittorio Jano (designer of Alfa Romeo's P-Series Grand Prix racers and road-going sporting models) and body stylist Felice Bianchi Anderloni (founder of the coachbuilding firm Carrozzeria Touring in Milan). With the help of chief designer Aquino Gilardi, Anderloni helped pioneer Superleggera (super light) body construction. Instead of using heavy frames and rigid axles like so many other competitors, Alfa Romeo employed an intricate latticework of lightweight but rigid steel tubes that formed the framework for the elegant, hand-fashioned aluminum body shell. Shapes were tested by attaching felt strips to the body and the car was photographed while moving to record how wind flowed over and around it.

The original 8C had won LeMans 4 years straight, and this car is a barely detuned racing chassis. What a way to tour Europe!

I have no idea what they make at this place, but my thought was some up-sized moonshine distillery, or a meth lab. I think this was someplace between Raton and Las Vegas, New Mexico. For sure I-25 and northern New Mexico. I've kept a journal since 2009 with date, odometer, and nearest town. So for a picture like this that was taken in 2012, by the date & time of day it was taken, I can usually figure out roughly where I took the picture.

I was photographing flying fish when this inconsiderate Puffin got in the way. Another shot of fish in the top comment box.

It was good to do a coastal walk after visiting the Priory. I liked this bird art it was so well done. Holy Island or is not a big island but there are quite a few houses these people will all be conscious of the tide times as the island gets cuts of when the tide comes in.

I was out shooting wildlife with my 150-600 when I came across this beautiful path, just had to get the shot even though I had completely the wrong lens.....

While I was waiting for the Sugar Gliders and Striped Possum to appear, at night, I've noticed this huge cicada in a nearby tree trunk.

A much photographed derelict building in the Wairarapa. I stopped to take an image but it was quite rushed as I was standing alongside a very busy road and it wasn't a pleasant spot to linger at that time! Here's the snap though and I've processed it to look soft and grainy to add some extra atmosphere hopefully!

I was back out in our meadow this morning. No dew today but I found this lonely Lady on a small, dried weed. It was cool out and no wind. She was quite still for me to set-up and take around 30 shots for focus stacking @ 4x magnification.

Coca-Cola was always part of of my life as a child. My father's family always kept supplies of bottled Coke on the basement stairs and my dad asked for Coke in the hospital when he could no longer eat. I never drink it these days but it still brings lots of memories.

This night photograph was taken over two weeks ago during my recent visit to Shanghai.

The photograph was taken from Waibaidu Bridge, on the West of Huangpu River, looking towards the landmarks in Shanghai Pudong. It was a breezy evening, with blurred reflections of the landmark structures, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower and Shanghai People's Heroes Monument (in red).
