I want to imagine a place, where this never ending story, can be explored. A place where we can be protected. Protected to love. Protected.
Why do we repeat this over and over.
NO NO NO!

Columbia Basin Railroad SD9s 608, 166, 171, and 12 along with GP9u 2274 and SD19-1 652 cross a wooden trestle as they approach the yard at Warden, WA, with a sizeable Connell Turn.
First air show of 2022! Cloudy and cool, but at least the rain held off.
This Spitfire has previously been displayed with ‘clipped’ wings. Removing the wingtips improves manoeuvrability at lower levels, but at the expense of performance at higher altitudes. It is nice to see this Spitfire being displayed with the famous elliptical wing .
A matching set of two Columbia Basin Railroad SD9s and an SD19-1 lead a Connell turn back toward Warden, WA.

I may not be able to upload for a few days as I am taking my imminently failing drive for some data recovery. I need all fingers crossed as I have chosen a local service, with good reviews, that is considerably cheaper than other quotes that I have received online. I know that is a risk but I simply can't afford the fees that other data recovery companies are quoting. Most of my work is backed up at least, it is just this past 12 months that I risk losing. Still, scary, and it has been an important 12 months in my journey.
I'll be around to enjoy your photos whatever happens.
Take care everyone.
Don't be fooled by the metallic paint, the Gladiator is mostly made of wood, covered with doped linen.
Entering service with the RAF in 1937, the same year as both the Spitfire and Hurricane, the Gladiator was already hopelessly outclassed as a fighter plane. The last biplane fighter to enter service, it was the first RAF plane with a fully enclosed cockpit and also had landing flaps. Seen here in flight over Old Warden.
'Miss Kenya' is a de Havilland model 51, built as an economical 'touring' plane in the early 1920s; back in the days when the wealthy did things like go on tour in their own private aircraft. The design was not a commercial success (evidently the wealthy didn't fly themselves on tour as much as Mr de Havilland anticipated) and only 3 DH.51s were ever built. This one spent much of its working life in Kenya (hence the name, 'Miss Kenya' which was painted on the side for many years), returning to the UK in 1965.
In the more recent past, Miss Kenya was painted in 'AT&T' airline livery (that it never wore in real life) to appear in a video advert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of British Airways - AT&T being one of their original constituent companies.
Miss Kenya can regularly be seen performing in airshows at Old Warden, where it is an ever-popular sight. It is owned by The Shuttleworth Collection.
Looking over the reed-filled pond to Smailholm Tower. This scheduled ancient monument is a peel tower sitting atop Lady Hill in the Scottish Borders; dating to the early 1400s, this watchtower defended a volatile border between Scotland and England. Smailholm is now maintained by Historic Scotland.
Fantastic to see these ~80 year old aircraft roaring around the sky. It was a great display on Sunday - these pictures hardly convey the noise and thrill.
Four Columbia Basin Railway SD9s, a GP9u, and an SD19-1 thunder uphill past an old wooden grain elevator on their way toward Bruce and ultimately Warden, WA.

The Game Warden?

Looks like a pretty nice way to travel as a game warden. I actually think they must be pretty in southern Texas. There were fishermen all over in very difficult areas to get to. They are wading into water full of sand and mud up to their waist, they were fishing in kayaks and boats, they were fishing on the beaches, and from the jetties. Good place to fish.
