Among the host of British drop-head coupes on the market, Alvis positioned itself in a special niche with a high price, a beautiful finish and sober lines. The bodywork was assembled at Park Ward, Rolls-Royce's historic partner. Only 285 TD 21s were built and this model with disc brakes was one of the last.

Fannie Ward, a.k.a. Fanny Ward (1872–1952) was an American actress of stage and screen, known for The Cheat (1915), a sexually- and racially-charged silent film directed by Cecil B. DeMille. In the late 1910s, she did a series of films for Astra Films, released by Pathé Exchange.

The Denison Central Ward School located in Denison Texas. Closed. It sits on the entire 700 block of Sears & Morton Streets. The School opened in 1917 & closed its' doors in 1979. Today the school sits idle & in pretty bad shape. Portions of this info & the following info was gathered from the website: www.heralddemocrat.com/hd/Commentary/9-15-2010Donna-Col-f... ... Central Ward School was built in 1917 and at that time the newspaper article reported that Stevens and Burleson schools were consolidated to form that Central Ward. Central still occupies the entire 700 block of Sears and Morton streets, but no longer belongs to the Denison school system or the City of Denison. It is in sad shape and is for sale. The doors to Central Ward School closed in 1979, but there are many of us who still remember attending classes in that once wonderful building.

Mavis said she found another source that says that Washington and Burleson schools were consolidated to form Central Ward in 1917. But it was in 1927 that the old Stevens school building was to be abandoned, the school board announced that students would be transferred to Central Ward. There's a little year discrepancy in records there, but whatever the date, Stevens became part of Central Ward School.

*There's rumors that the School is Haunted*

Thrumshing La. Despite many attempts, this species eluded us. Then, the day we all dreaded - it was the last full day at Thrumshing La. We had to leave the next day so that we can have ample time to head all the way back to Paro for our flight back. It was effectively one of our last opportunities to see this rare beauty that was one of the highlights to any birding tour to Bhutan. It was to much relief that not one but two pairs responded to the taped calls this fine morning. Unfortunately, the males were shy and this was the best I could do. We were blessed by these two pairs as a return to the same spot the next morning yielded no response.

A round about look at Middletown Psychiatric Center's former "Chronical" wards. Later it was used as a sub campus for Letchworth Village and employee services. Rumor has it that this long abandoned building may be purchased anbd reused.

Women's ward at the Old Idaho Penitentiary. The Women's Ward (1905–1906) was built out of necessity. Prior to its completion women did not have separate quarters. Male inmates built a wall around the old wardens home to serve as a separate facility for women. This building had seven two-person cells, a central day room, kitchen and bathroom facilities. This building held the infamous Lyda Southard (Lady Bluebeard).

Built in 1934 for a Mr. Snow, this house was one of three designed by Connell, Ward and Lucas. This is the only one remaining, after the neighbouring house was destroyed by fire in 1954.

I have added the following to give some insight in to Saltdean and it's development;

Regarding design of Saltdean houses Herbert Julyan wrote in a promotional leaflet for the Estate Company in 1959 that 'I suppose there is not another place like it in the United Kingdom. The Houses are all ultramodern in their design..Italian, Spanish and Cubist mixed with beautiful bungalows'.

There was a wide range in design over three main styles. The first style was reproduction Tudor such as Chichester House, the second was varying bungalow designs and the third was a continental design - from the Spanish design of the Spanish lady to the Moorish design of the White House. There was also cubist designs by the internationally famous partnership of Connell, Ward and Lucas in 1934. These buildings in Wicklands Avenue were actually included on an Open University course - History of Art and Design 1890-1939'.

The dark and depressive children's ward...St John's Asylum...children up to the age of 16 were kept in single matress cells...

St. Johns Asylum was designed by John R Hamilton of Gloucester assisted by Thomas Percy, Surveyor to the County of Kesteven , the Asylum was also called “Bracebridge Heath Asylum,” but its formal name was the long and cumbersome: “Lindsey and Holland Counties and Lincoln and Grimsby District Lunatic Asylum.

It also operated under the name: “Lincolnshire County Pauper Lunatic Asylum and was built in 1852 on a slight rise in Bracebridge parish, Originally built to house 250 inmates, it was enlarged in 1859, 1866, 1881 and 1902.

The asylum grounds covered 120 acres.

The asylum finally closed in 1989

On the left, GF Ward (who traded from 65 Fairfield Road, near Epping hospital) operated this unusual Willowrook Coach, SEV 845K based on a Ford R192 chassis. On the right, SOO 845K a clean Ford R226 with non-standard Ford badge, and very smart Duple bodywork. Two favourites together in this schoolboy photo, well worth the forty mile round trip cycle ride. Shame I hadn't a better camera. SOO 223K was another Willowbrook-Ford coach identical to SEV. I rather liked the fleet name on the side destination box. I wasn't aware that Ward operated a stage service, but I may be wrong **- the Willowbrook vehicles look upto bus grant specification. Interesting unrelated fact: Frank SOO was a Chinese-English football international for England (during the war) and who played for Chelmsford City for two seasons at the end of the 1940s

I don't know the 845 connection, as to my recollection,no other coaches of Ward carried this number. A strange coincidence.

**Ward took over a local bus service [see note below, the 381 I think] but suddenly ceased trading during a long run of buying new vehicles, around 1982

SEV later served with a scout group in the West country
