Sólfar / Sonnenfahrt ist ein Traumschiff, eine Ode an die Sonne. Es symbolisiert das Versprechen von unentdecktem Territorium, ein Traum von Hoffnung, Fortschritt und Freiheit.

The Sun Voyager is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located at the seafront in Reyjavik, Iceland. I was there only for three days in may, the weather was unusually cold and rainy, but I enjoyed very much the wonderful light of the (almost) neverending day.

The Sun Voyager (Sólfarið) is a large steel sculpture of a ship, located on the road Sæbraut, by the seaside of central Reykjavík facing North across Faxaflói Bay. The work is one of the most visited sights in the capital, where people gather daily to gaze at the sun reflecting in the stainless steel of this remarkable monument. I had hoped to catch it at sunrise but the clouds weren’t playing.

I first saw this artwork in a magazine many years ago and fell in love with it, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would get to image and touch it, quite an emotional moment

On a boat trip to Seal Island near St. Ives, Cornwall, I noticed these well-dressed & curious fellow voyagers. I found these little dachshunds almost as bequiling as the beautiful scenery on view from the boat :)

I usually take photos from the other side of the tracks, but as I was getting back in the car i saw this voyager coming so decided to try taking one from this side, I took it wide to make sure I included the setting sun
