I was surprised to see a vortex form way up in the clouds. It looked like a tornado being born, but didn't last more than a few seconds. Seen from the observation deck at the Honda Wetlands in Glacier Ridge Park.

1987: Vortex, Kings Island's dynamic new steel roller coaster, turns riders upside down six times. Two of the coaster's three trains are running here, one on top of the lift hill, in the background, and the other in the boomerang turn. A ride on Vortex lasts two and one-half minutes. The record-setting coaster was designed exclusively for Kings Island by Arrow Dynamics, Inc., Clearfield, Utah.

FROM A MONDAY MARCH 28, 1988 ARTICLE BY RONNIE AGNEW, THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRER: During the summer theme park season,t he first thing Reggie Whitehead does when he gets up is look out the window. As director of marketing at Kings Island, he knows that rainy weather will hurt sales at the theme park, which last year had its best season ever. An entire week of rain could mean the loss of 40,000 customers, and cost the park hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenues from ticket sales. But Whitehead and other Kings Island officials hope they won't have that problem. Optimism that the theme park will reach last year's record attendance figures is .....
