The volume control pot looks like a replacement, and it would appear this was added in series to give it a minimum wiper resistance. The original volume control stopped before it's end to ensure a minimum tube bias. Unfortunately, this has seen better days too.
This shot is of a small, crowded room with shoes all over the floor. It is an example of dominant positive volume since someone in there would feel restricted. My friend looks at her room and is too tired to cook, so she decides to get food somewhere else.
