Yaayyyyyyy, Volume returned for a brief while (ends 25th July) on the Southbank outside the Royal Vegetable Hall (well that's what I call it!)
Created with 2 of the guys from Massive Attack, and probably tied in with the months of gigs they have curated for this years Meltdown.
It's a bugger to photograph as you can't meter as it's forever changing colour, but you get some great accidents... who wants "normal" he he
Go see in the evening, it's WAY better in the dark and closes at 11pm
Some things work better in video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUlIsoTLohY) than they do in still photography. Still, "Volume" a sculpture of light and sound, captivated me. I could have watched it all day.

Hong Kong Transport - Trucks
The Hong Kong Truck Culture
The number of Trucks, Vans* and Special Purpose Vehicles (Light, Medium & Heavy) registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 120,000 - 125,000 vehicles and presumably new trucks registered are offset by old trucks being retired or sold over the border in China.
*Vans are classified as Light Goods Vehicles and are not shown in this album
In Hong Kong Trucks are classified as GOODS VEHICLES By the Transport Department - see below
☛Light Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5.5 tonnes.
☛Medium Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 5.5 tonnes but not exceeding 24 tonnes.
☛Heavy Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 24 tonnes but not exceeding 38 tonnes.
The major truck types you tend to see in urban areas are trucks carrying construction materials or waste, dump trucks, concrete mixers and all sizes of delivery trucks... outside of the urban areas it is container trucks and large trucks carrying construction materials.
The following brands of Trucks can be seen on the streets of Hong Kong and include:-

Hong Kong is a brand conscious place even for trucks (!) hence the popularity of the European brands, Scania and Man are very popular and even the older trucks look the business and they are utterly reliable.
Isuzu is the market leader in terms of sale volume for all types of trucks.

The Second Volume of the “Parliamenthu Sara Sanhitha” Academic Journal Launched under the Patronage of the Hon. Deputy Speaker, Pix by U.G. Nuwan Duminda
The second volume of the “Parliamenthu Sara Sanhitha” Academic journal was launched today (08) under the patronage of Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Deputy Speaker and the Chair of Committees.
A copy of the scholarly journal 'Parliamenthu Sara Sanhita' was first presented to the Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Deputy Speaker and the Chair of Committees by the Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake.
The copies of the journal were presented to Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Education and Leader of the House of Parliament and Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma, Minister of Mass Media.
Articles were called for the second volume of “Parliamenthu Sara Sanhitha” last year under the guidance of the Secretary General of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake focusing on a number of areas.
This journal contains articles by a number of scholars representing the academic field under a wide range of disciplines such as the Legislative Process, Sustainable Development, Electoral System and its amendments, Parliamentary Reporting and Media, Public Outreach and the Trends in Sri Lankan Women's Politics. The Review Board comprised of Senior Professor Ratnasiri Arangala, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Professor Ajantha Hapuarachchi, University of Colombo, Dr S. J. Yogarajah, University of Kelaniya, Dr. Tudor Weerasinghe, Sri Palee Campus, University of Colombo and senior lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe, University of Kelaniya.
“Parliamenthu Sara Sanhitha” will be distributed to libraries and relevant stakeholders in future. Also, this journal can be obtained by contacting the Department of Communication of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
Director Legislative Services and Acting Director for the Department of Communications Mr. H. E. Janakantha Silva announced the initiation of the third volume of the “Parliamenthu Sara Sanhitha” Refereed Academic Journal at this occasion. Accordingly, from today (08) to April 24, papers will be called for the third volume under 11 subtopics falling under the main theme "Trends of Globalization, Anti-Globalization and Parliamentary Process".
The event was attended by scholars representing the university sector, scholars from a number of other fields and heads of departments of Parliament. Pix by U.G. Nuwan Duminda
