I am uploading four different images of a male Northern (Yellow-Shafted) Flicker who made a rare visit to the suet feeder on my deck in Columbia County, New York, USA on February 12, 2012. I grabbed a couple of fuzzy shots of him a few days earlier, but I wanted to share these better shots, since he is our unofficial flickr mascot! This shot shows the coloration on his head nicely. Isn't he a handsome guy? Notice the House Finch, feeding in the foreground?
Beautiful coast community in the "banana belt" where it's sunny most of the year (unlike a lot of the rest of the California coast).
