Cornerstones is a memorial to police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. It's built into the cornerstone of the Clayton Police Department in Clayton, North Carolina. The building is new and was designed by architect Jon Zellweger. The Cornerstones piece is by artist Christian Karkow. Both work at Clearscapes in Raleigh.

In April 2009 six Nottingham teenagers set out on incredible journey to learn about the rainforest and to spend seven days living with the Baka people. The Baka have lived in the Cameroon rainforest for thousands of years yet their rights are still not recognised by Cameroonian law. The students, national winners of the Giving Nation Awards, won the chance to spend a week with the Baka in the heart of the forest learning about the work of environmental charity the Rainforest Foundation to protect the rights of the Baka and the forest that has been central to their way of life and livelihoods for thousands of years.
