You wear a VR headset and experience walking out on one of the struts, 90m up. There are three challenges: this one is to reach out and ring the bell...

This screencapture shows a VR environment with a live peek into reality using the smartphone camera. Is this augmented virtual reality?

The snippet is taken from a VR history lesson about the origin of the mobile phone. See vr4two.com for more info about the educational use of VR.

“He’d noticed that sex bore some resemblance to cookery: it fascinated people, they sometimes bought books full of complicated recipes and interesting pictures, and sometimes when they were really hungry they created vast banquets in their imagination - but at the end of the day they’d settle quite happily for egg and chips. If it was well done and maybe had a slice of tomato.”

The Library calls to me once more. Not summon, a summoning would remove my illusion of free will. It calls to me, like a mothers sweet voice calling out to a son for lunch. My return is not out of nostalgia, but a call to purpose.

As I survey the premise, the walls hum nervously. I have done great things here, but much of that is forgotten by the destruction and pain that I have caused. The walls find it difficult to tell if I am friend or foe. My own fears echo the same doubts.

I haven't come to join. Not just yet. I still have a few more visits to make.

MyrioMyrmex Medusa (formerly Myrmex Medusa)

I am renaming this Genus because I did not do my taxonomic due diligence in the first go round. As it turns out, there is already a Myrmex genus out there and oddly enough (since myrmex is Greek for ant), the name belongs to a beetle. So I want no part of that because this really is an ant. Frequently, ant genera have myrmex as a suffix, like Pogonomyrmex (a harvester ant) or Acromyrmex versicolor (another ant).

Myrio is greek for countless, like the countless iterations that make the body of each ant.

Using the right mathemagical transformation will generate a swarm of equally countless ants.

So MyrioMyrmex then, and you can see why it is called Medusa.

Gameplay 3 allows you to create custom touch, voice, and motion controls for your favorite PC games.

In early April, Ideum released GestureWorks Gameplay 3, available on Steam. Previous versions of Gameplay allowed gamers to use and build their own controllers for touch, as an overlay on existing PC games. Gamers have already created nearly 600 “virtual controllers” for hundreds of PC games that they have shared with the larger community. Gameplay 3 includes everything users loved about Gameplay 2, including configurable touch interfaces and Android support.

Now, with Gameplay 3, gamers will be able to interact with games in dramatically new, ultra-customized ways. While gamers will still experience fully customized on-screen controls, gestures, and remote layouts, key new features include voice recognition, and all-new hand- and head-motion gestures with the Leap Motion sensor, RealSense 3D camera, and wearable sensor gesture support.

Artists in the nanowrimo.org forums are kind enough to create all manner of art for us writers and our specific needs. I was certain to make sure the artist who made this calendar saw their calendar rendered into virtual reality; they were very excited.
