The SuperStar Virgo was ordered by Star Cruises on 22 November 1995 from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany as the second ship of the Leo class, and the second newbuilding for Star Cruises. Like her sister ship SuperStar Leo, she was designed specifically for the Asian cruise market.] The keel of the SuperStar Virgo was laid on 18 November 1996, and she was floated out of drydock on 23 December 1998. She was delivered to Star Cruises on 2 August 1999.

A cream bag I made on commission for a Virgo lady, with pale blue, aqua and pink edging. Cream has pale yellow softly blended through. Finished with felt flower.
Bode's Nebula (M81) is a spiral galaxy in the M81 group which is part of the Virgo Supercluster (which our Milky Way is part of). It's about half the size of the Milky Way, but due to its close proximity, it is the 4th largest galaxy in apparent size in the night sky. Still it is small enough that I needed to use my Celestron Edge HD telescope to image it. Fortunately it is a bright galaxy, so I managed to image it in one night even at f/7.
I captured this image from my backyard in light polluted Mira Mesa, CA using a IDAS LPS-D2 wide band light pollution filter on December 31, 2019.
This photo was taken through an 8" Celestron Edge HD8 telescope with a focal reducer (1422mm focal length, f/7) using a ZWO ASI071MC Pro astro-camera set to unity gain and cooled to T=-10C. I also used a IDAS LPS-D2 light pollution filter. There are 48 x 600sec subs (8hrs. total exposure time) stacked and calibrated with with the requisite dark, bias, and flat frames. Processing was done in PixInsight.
