YCC crew works to spruce up the Visitors Center at Staunton River State Park.

Warren County, Virginia. Shenandoah River Raymond R. "Andy" Guest Jr. State Park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. The park opened in June 1999. In addition to the meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. With more than 25 miles of trails, the park has plenty of options for hiking, biking, horseback riding and adventure.

Guests enjoyed making trees out of driftwood found on Caledon's shores in this annual program.

With grant funding provided by Garden Club of Virginia, and help from Garden Club of Danville, native plantings are being used to beautify the cabin area at Staunton River State Park

May 2021. First Landing State Park (formerly Seashore State Park) offers recreational opportunities at Cape Henry in the independent city of Virginia Beach, Virginia. As the first planned state park of Virginia, First Landing is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Seashore State Park Historic District. A portion of the park is listed as a National Natural Landmark as part of the Seashore Natural Area.

 

The state park is near the site of the first landing on April 26, 1607 of Christopher Newport and the Virginia Company colonists before establishing themselves at Jamestown.
