Later in the afternoon, we decided to go visit High Bridge Trail State Park to see the High Bridge that Twin Lakes State Park staff told us about. Here is the entrance to that Park.
Earlier today I took a little ride down the New River Trail.
I saw some rapids and decided to go and shoot some long exposures.
As soon as I jumped off of my bike, I saw some weeds rustle and there was a tiny bear looking up at me! I BOOKED it down the trail a little ways when I saw a couple cyclists. I told them about it and we slowly made our way back.
When we got back to the bear, it was damn near eye level in the trees looking right at us!
For the last two weeks I had either the Nikor or Tamron 28-300mm lens in my bag. Just the other day I finally sent back the Tamron, and was pondering which one to buy. Had I just freaking ordered one of them I would have had a 300mm shot of a bear cub looking RIGHT AT ME!... but no, I had a *%*^&^20mm wide angle!
Needless to say, as soon as I got back I ordered the Nikon version.

Governor Northam joked as Dr. Zarr signed the script that he and Zarr are pediatric doctors, not veterinarians. The script was made out for the state park mascot, Ranger Park Red Fox.

Chippokes Plantation is one of the oldest continually farmed plantations in the country. A working farm since 1619, the park offers modern recreational activities and a glimpse of life in a bygone era. Visitors tour the historic area with its antebellum mansion and outbuildings, stroll through formal gardens, and view antique equipment at the Chippokes Farm and Forestry Museum. The River House was built on the property in the 1830 but has never been restored by the owners or the state. Black Vultures have taken up residence here.

Belle Isle has seven miles of shoreline on the Northern Neck's Rappahannock River and provides access to Mulberry and Deep creeks. The park lets visitors explore a wide variety of tidal wetlands interspersed with farmland and upland forests.
The diverse habitats found in the park provide homes to many predator birds, such as blue herons, osprey, hawks and bald eagles. White-tailed deer, turkeys, groundhogs, rabbits, squirrels, moles, reptiles and amphibians are also common. There are eight distinct types of wetlands within the park.
