Gender-based violence, already a global crisis before the pandemic, has intensified since the outbreak of COVID-19. Lockdowns and other mobility restrictions have left many women trapped with their abusers, isolated from social contact and support networks. Increased economic precarity has further limited many women’s ability to leave abusive situations. COVID-driven economic and social instability will also heighten the risk of child marriage, female genital mutilation and human trafficking, 5.7% of adults aged 16 to 59 years experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2022.
This isn't him you know it
But the bruises feel the same
The stomach leaves unspoken
but you can feel the rain
when you've
had enough he knows it
he breaks you down again
and all your feelings hopeless
when you
you trying to find the end
but it's
not your fault
when he breaks your heart
don't wait
your not broken
your heart still beats
the door still opens
don't wait to walk away
your worth
more than he let's you see
and people start to notice
then he
he promises to change
but it
It's not your fault
and it's never been your fault
a promise that is broken
tell me time again
don't wait
your not broken
your heart still beats
the door still opens
don't wait to walk away
your worth
more than he let's you see
don't wait
your not broken
and don't wait
your not broken
and don't wait
your not broken
you never did deserve it
don't you ever take the blame
for the life he has stolen
now your
an angle Heven gained
don't wait

Come touch me like I'm an ordinary man
Have a look in my eyes
Underneath my skin there is a violence
It's got a gun in its hands
Ready to make sense of
Anyone, anything
Black holes living in the side of your face
Razor wire spinning around your
blistering sky
Bullets are the beauty of the blistering sky
Bullets are the beauty and I don't know why

Non-Violence, also known as The Knotted Gun, is a bronze sculpture by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd of an oversized Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver with its muzzle tied in a knot.
Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd made this sculpture after the murder of John Lennon. Following the unveiling of the original sculpture, Reuterswärd did a range of replicas of Non Violence for places around the world, numbering about 30 sculptures. About half of these are in Sweden.
Forgive me for not being on Flickr as often, but my time is very limited at present.
I am sorry to be posting gloomy work during this time of year. We have to face this struggle head-on for our children's sake. I am not promoting violence, just a peaceful and reasonable solution. It is possible if everyone would sit at the table and dedicate themselves to finding a fair solution for all.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women ...
A PLAGUE !
Se ingrandite potete leggere sul sacchetto "cosa non è amore" ...
I've got a bad back today, so no volunteering, and instead I'll work on my latest project of sketching local churches. This is a photo from my favourite beach on a day of my favourite wild and windy weather what could be better. Gentle Violence is by John Moreland.

"If the government shutdown lasts beyond tomorrow, domestic violence shelters that rely on federal funding will be forced to begin shutting their doors and closing down hotlines. In so many ways, lives are on the line."
10/28/2023 She was right then, and she's right again. I didn't know it at the time, but my daughter was going to be one of the lives lost as a direct result of Orange Hitler's regime.
I will never forget. I will never forgive.

Peace is the marriage of the people and the planet, with all attendant vows. - Anonymous
Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are. - Hafsat Abiola
In some ways, the challenges are even more daunting than they were at the peak of the cold war. Not only do we continue to face grave nuclear threats, but those threats are being compounded by new weapons developments, new violence within States and new challenges to the rule of law. -

There is no time left for anything but to make peacework a dimension of our every waking activity. - Elise Boulding
Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding. - Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Male privilege is, in a word, violence.

I attended my 13th protest on behalf of Black Lives Matter this past Saturday since the pandemic began but I haven't brought my camera to the last few because I am honestly just there to support what I believe in. Black Lives Matter is not a photo op or a hash tag. It's a belief system that you actually adhere to every day because Love is a verb. I don't believe it is my place, as a white person, to tell the story of this movement but if you all are interested, there's a phenomenal Chicago photographer who is doing an excellent job capturing the essence and joy of the community coming together and he goes by Vashon:
www.instagram.com/vashon_photo/
You may have heard different media spin on protests in Chicago. All of the ones I have attended continue to be peaceful. I ask you to question the narratives that you read when there are advertiser funds involved. I ask you to scrutinize those words when there are political biases tied to political candidates. I ask you to listen with an open mind and an open heart.
Currently the movement is focused on a few things:
1. Reinvesting in communities some of the $1.2 BILLION dollars per year (roughly $600 per resident) that our city spends on police.
2. CPAC or Civilian Police Accountability Council which would guarantee more police accountability (there are some officers still on the force with over 40 complaints for example).
3. Removal of cops or "school resource officers" in schools and instead hiring actual social workers, nurses, and librarians.
4. Moratorium on current evictions during a pandemic and investment in communities that need quality low income housing, employment, public education, an end to food deserts, and mental health clinics.
5. An end to ICE raids and the department responsible for literally caging children, deporting families, and forcing human beings to live in Covid petri dishes where they are sometimes forced to work in forced slave labor conditions.
If you are an abolitionist...If you believe every human life is worth fighting for, you cannot be silent on these issues. If there are no protests where you live, you can donate money to local food banks, Southern Poverty Law Center, or another worthy cause. You can vote for candidates who support Black Lives and human rights. You can speak out against school closings when they occur in a neighborhood that is dis-proportionally people of color. You can call your local school district to see if there are cops in your public schools and voice your opinion against this. You can do research to see how much your city spends on police and ask the city council to spend some of these funds on the actual community.
In this photo are two girls watching one of the Black Lives Matter protests. They appear to not show any emotion or recognition of the movement that is happening. I hope I'm wrong. We must be better than this.

At least, if I were given a Rorschach test of this image, that would be my one word, first-impression response.

As graceful as the eagle makes it look from a distance, it is pure violence from the fish's point of view ...
The two times I've been to Mono Lake, I've always been to the South Tufa area. And of those two times I've been, it has always been clear skies. Finally on my third visit to Mono Lake we visited a lesser known area and the sky delivered.
While heading towards the Sierras the clouds were getting darker and I wasn't sure if the light would happen. Upon arriving at the lake the sky was very grey and moody, but I still wasn't sure if there was a break in the clouds.
Suddenly behind the mountains We saw a slight glow of light appear and this was the beginning of the amazing light show at an unique location.
