Framed by the weathered wood of an observation deck, this image offers a panoramic view of a sprawling wetland, alive with the tranquil beauty of nature's canvas. The photograph captures a field of Daylilies in varying stages of their life cycle, a natural mosaic of vitality and decline. The flowers, radiant in shades of amber and gold, stand proudly among the blades of vibrant green, embodying the full swing of the summer bloom. While some petals retain their youthful sheen, others bear the marks of time, wilting gracefully, contributing to the cycle that feeds the soil. The pattern of life and rejuvenation is palpable in this image, with fresh buds ready to unfurl and spent blossoms ready to return to the earth. This scene is a reminder of the transient yet continuous nature of life, where every ending is intertwined with a new beginning, each flower a note in the symphony of the garden.
Taking photos at -35C is always a challenge (both for the photographer and the equipment), but making time-lapses adds to the difficulty to have the equipment working for 4 to 5 hours straight in the frigid cold. This is one frame of a time-lapse I captured a few days ago. Check it out on YouTube or Vimeo:

It consists of nailed plates, almost all of oak. Its dimensions are 22 meters in length by 5 of sleeve, with a mast of about 9-10 meters. With a sail of approximately 90 m², the ship could reach a speed of 10 knots. It had room for 30 rowers (each side of the ship reveals 15 holes for the oars). In addition there is a large helm and an iron anchor. The bow and stern of the ship are sculpted in an elaborate way, in a style that has been called "de Oseberg". The ship was built in 820 and was used for its main function for several years before serving as a grave. Although suitable for navigation, the ship is quite fragile, which suggests that it should be used only for trips along the coast.

Con una vela de aproximadamente 90 m², el barco podía alcanzar una velocidad de 10 nudos. Tenía cabida para 30 remeros (cada lado del navío revela 15 huecos para los remos). Además se encuentra un amplio timón y un ancla de hierro. La proa y la popa del navío están esculpidas de forma elaborada, en un estilo que se ha dado en llamar "de Oseberg". El barco se construyó en 820 y fue utilizado para su función principal durante varios años antes de servir como sepultura. Aunque apto para la navegación, el barco es bastante frágil, lo que hace pensar que debía utilizarse sólo para trayectos por la costa.

In this lively scene from Gibbs Gardens, a throng of daffodils stands in vibrant contrast to the earthy tones of the forest floor. The sun-kissed petals boast a luminous yellow, each trumpet center ringed with a deeper golden hue, as if to echo the sun's own rays. The flowers' ruffled cups appear like miniature suns, their bright faces turned upwards, soaking in the light and warmth of the early spring day. This cluster of daffodils, captured in the midst of their seasonal performance, sings a silent song of growth and joy. The image conveys the essence of springtime in Ball Ground, Georgia, where nature's palette is a burst of joyful colors, and every blossom is a note in the symphony of the season.

This panoramic photo captures the vast, open grasslands of Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, offering a view into the untouched natural beauty of the area. The panorama stretches across the untamed field, where the tall grasses sway in the breeze, creating waves of serene motion. Eating Australian chocolate in her cool shades and rocking out to Rilo Kiley. It was a good day. Totally forgot this was on the point and shoot. Taken a few months ago.

Curry Village is the well-lit area in the valley. We got lucky and someone hiked around Mirror Lake with a headlamp during the photo. Glacier Point is the bright area right of Half Dome, and North Dome and El Capitan are visible on the far right side of the image.
Kurt Lawson and I backpacked 110 lbs of gear to Mt. Watkins, a rock outcropping across Yosemite Valley from Half Dome. Wade Meade strapped on a bunch of headlamps and hiked up Half Dome at night while we ran five cameras for stills and timelapse. 9 8-minute exposures were stacked to produce this image.
Prints available. If Kurt and Wade sound familiar, it's because they joined me two summers ago for the Mt. Whitney night photography adventure.
Sun rises in the midle of the night (4 am), with volcanic ash in the air, from the recent erupting volcano in Grímsvötn, Vatnajökull. Icebergs are covered with black ash, and mist paints the landscape.
I just processed a short clip from the erupting volcano in Grímsvötn, and ash covered surroundings on the south coast of Iceland.

Alright alright, before I say anything I have to tell you that this idea has been in my brain for over 6 months- and in the works for 3. It is surreal to finally watch it and see that it is finished, because I thought about it everyday and even though this is a somewhat poor result for so much effort, I’m glad I did it and didn’t just think about it. In a nutshell, these are pieces of the ending of my senior year. I’m a little sentimental, I know.
So, here it is. Credit goes to my mother and a few friends for some photos, and inspiration credit obviously goes to you because I have no patience and would have given up 2 months and 30 days ago had it not been for you guys.
I know this song is very overused but it was the soundtrack to my year- for many reasons.

It’s An Addiction ~ Tutorial Challenge #17
It was fun tonight to sit down and play with photoshop. I didn't do all the steps in this tutorial and added a few of my own. The clouds are my own shots. the Lightning is brushes and the butterflies and trees are from the tut.
