More information on the facebook event and in in this journal star article. Please feel free to use the pictures, you don't even have to credit me, but keep in mind I didn't get permission from anyone pictured.

The Great Paschal Vigil is the apex of the Church's liturgical year and is the solemnity upon which the rest of the year revolves. It was on the first Easter that the Lord's disciples discovered the empty tomb, indicating that Christ had risen from the dead.

By His Resurrection Jesus Christ triumphed over death, paid the debt that came through the sin of Adam, and thus opened the gates of Heaven to mankind. Thus, the Lord's Resurrection on Easter thus marks the turning point in salvation history.

It is for this reason that Christians have great reason to rejoice in the new life brought to us by the Risen Savior. Salvation has come at last! For this reason, the Church resumes the use of the word "alleluia" which is said with even greater frequency and fervor for the rest of the fifty days of the Easter season, also known as 'Paschaltide.' The Church also rejoices at the birth of many new children through the waters of Baptism.

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is no mere historical event relegated to history but a living reality which Christians experience again and again each year. It is an ever ancient and ever new mystery that is re-presented each year. May all discover and receive the new life to be found in the Risen Savior.

There were quite a few emotions tugging at my heart strings Saturday night while in Liberty State Park shooting the Tribute Lights of the World Trade Centers in New York City. Man...now that's a powerful and stirring sight that everyone needs to put on their bucket list.

I slipped away from the masses and headed down to the southern end of the promenade where there were very few people, to get a slightly different perspective to shoot from. It was nice. It was quite the change from all the chattering and bright lights of the northern end. It was quiet and peaceful with soft, sparse lighting. The mood was hushed and seemlingly a little somber.

While making a few images, a woman and her small child approached and took up residence on an empty park bench next to me. They never looked at me and we didn't exchange pleasantries like most everyone else I had met that night. They huddled up close to one another, took out and lit a tall glass candle and placed it on the brick surface between their feet and the concrete divide that keeps the cold flowing Hudson back. The mother pulled out her tissues, wrapped her arm around her daughter, pulled her in tight and proceeded to silently weep while staring out over the water to the two bright beams that stretched towards the heavens.

It stung to witness this. So badly I wanted to make it alright for them. If nothing less, just a hug...and reassurance that it will be...ok. But, not on this night. On this night, it was....A Private Vigil.

So, during the few moments we shared that space and time, I made this image...for them. Whoever you are...where ever you are....may peace be with you..............................

One of my favorite bands/live band pictures. I've probably re-edited this shot a million times but I always like messin with it and figured I'd give it another go tonight since I was bored. I played with this texture before on this one but this time I left it just on his shirt. I think it looks better that way. This is from a show back in November of 08'. Vigil is the vocalist for The Ghost Inside. They were playing with Misery Signals and Bring Me The Horizon. That place was fuckin packed and I just about killed myself (and my dear camera) taking shots in the pit.
