The Зенит is back! Finally got around to shoot with a "new" body that has a working shutter release.

And it's a relief to see that the inner lighting meter in my brain still seems to work (since the one in the camera doesn't). I basically go with my gut without checking the numbers on the lens ring, and most of the time it works out fine. I was afraid I would have to re-learn this since I had gotten used to the numbers indicating the aperture which are displayed in the viewfinder of the Canon AE-1 Program... So either I was lucky or it's like riding a bike - you can't unlearn it?!

Photography notes ...

The photograph was taken using the following hardware configuration ...

- Hasselblad 501CM Body (Chrome) - S/N 10SH26953 (2002).

- Hasselblad CFV-50c Digital Back for Hasselblad V mount camera.

- Hasselblad Focusing Screen for the CFV-50c digital back, with focussing prism and crop markings.

- Hasselblad 45 Degree Viewfinder PME-45 42297 (2001).

- Hasselblad Carl Zeiss lens - Planar T* 80mm f2.8 CFE lens (2000).

- FotodioX B60 Lens Hood for Select Hasselblad Standard Length CF Lenses .

- Hasselblad Extension Tube 56E (56mm) for 200 and 500 Series - MFR # 30 40656.

(Year of manufacture indicated in braces where known.)

I acquired the photograph (8272 x 6200 pixels) with an ISO of 400. I did not record the exposure time nor the aperture.

Post-processing ...

Finder - Removed the CF card from the camera digital back and placed it in a Lexar 25-in-1 USB card reader. Then used Finder on my MacBook Air to download the raw image file (3FR extension) from the card.

Lightroom - Imported the 3FR image. Applied a standard metadata preset (20161110 Import 001) during the import process.

Lightroom - Used the Map module to add the location details to the EXIF header.

Lightroom - Used the Spot Removal tool (Clone mode) to attenuate a number of sensor dust spots.

Lightroom - Made various lighting and color adjustments to the image.

Lightroom - Applied a crop to the image, retaining the original 4:3 aspect ratio.

Lightroom - Saved the Develop module settings as a preset.

Lightroom - Output the image as a JPEG image using the "Maximum" quality option (7196 x 5394 pixels).

PhotoSync - Copied the JPEG file to my iPad Mini for any final processing, review, enjoyment, and posting to social media.

My father took this picture while he was on holiday in Bournemouth in July 1987. Parked in the entrance to what looks like a guest house, this ex LUT Guy Arab V was at the time in the ownership of Verwood Transport and was wearing this pseudo version of the old Middlesbrough Corporation livery. Verwood Transport used the bus on service and school contract work, but eventually it was exported to Budapest, where I understand it still survives.

Looking at the Perutz made slide, which was taken with a very basic Halina 35mm viewfinder camera, it looks fine, but in trying to scan it I’ve had all sorts of problems and this is about the best I can do with it. Perutz were the East German arm of Agfa, but Perutz's equivalent slide film was cheaper than Agfa's, however, unlike Agfa the film quality varied considerably and you took a chance when using it. Perutz like Agfa had a bias to blue, and so with it being a blue bus and taken on a dull day, I guess that it's not that surprising to find problems in scanning the image.

This roll was ruined and the only thing I have to show is this quick iPhone shot taken through the viewfinder.

What could be more cliché that bokeh circles and an viewfinder image?!?

Twins have always ran in my life. Twin Aunts, twin cousins, my husband was a twin and my best friend is a twin. Twins are incredible, unless you ask their siblings. ; )

This is one of those grab shots that end up being one of your all time favorites. Yes it could have been technically better, shot on larger format for a better neg but had I taken the time to do that it would not exist.

Many have expressed concern about how small the viewfinders on these old 35mm cameras were made. Well they were just like little peep holes, but get they got the job done! From left to right are my Ikonta 35 with viewfinder only, Contessa with combo viewfinder and rangefinder, and Contina II with separate viewfinder and rangefinder.

The M11 viewfinder is fantastic and is much lighter than the M240. The 60MP files meant I had to use my sharpest lens 😅
