Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn participated in the Special ASEAN Economic Ministers – Closer Economic Relations (Special AEM-CER) Consultation, held via videoconference, on 20 May 2025. The Meeting exchanged views on the recent global economic developments and reaffirmed commitment to upholding rules-based multilateral trading system as a cornerstone for addressing emerging trade-related challenges concerns. The Meeting welcomed the entry into force of the Second Protocol to Amend the Agreement Establishing the ASEAN-Australia-New
Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA), reflecting the collective resolve of ASEAN, Australia, and New Zealand to navigate current regional and global economic challenge.

Here, COSI demonstrator Patrick Roach leads sixth-grade students in Lewisburg, Tennessee, as they learn how changes in air pressure and temperature can affect the weather.
Students also took and used readings from barometers and thermometers to help them predict basic weather patterns. They explored air pressure using everyday objects and understood why changes in weather often occur around cold and warm fronts.
COSI's "Weather Watch" program includes a classroom kit for up to 30 students. Extra kits are available.

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today joined ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste in a Special Emergency Meeting to discuss ASEAN’s humanitarian assistance to Myanmar in the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck central Myanmar, on 28 March 2025. At the Meeting, held via videoconference, ASEAN reaffirmed its support of relief and recovery efforts, based on priorities identified by Myanmar, with the assistance of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre).
