Around town with my new lens.
Caitlin finally got to see the HDR-HC3, the replacement to her HDR-HC1. One obscure thing she hates about the HC1 is that the tape eject is moronically placed upside down. Since she works with steadicams, steady sticks, tripods and the like, switching out the tape is a real chore.
The HC3 thoughtfully fixes this oversight.

Made with some old skates, wood, and 20 euros.
It works so extremely well, we didn't expect it.

about five hours later, i'm done.
i fully captured three hours worth of video, ordered it by shot and take and made the needed stills and some contrast adjustments in about 5 hours.
3 hours of footage in 5 hours is really fast, and i am a very happy boy. i zip the files and email them off to oxford.
It's the best steadicam rig you can buy for around $100, especially for lighter cameras like my Sony Cybershot M2.
There it is, the smallest video camera I've ever seen, next to probably the most ostentatiously oversized package.
For reasons that will not be explained here, this stove became known to us as 'Ogre' whilst we remained snowed in at Lake Roe Hut on the Dusky Track. Cabin fever resulted in many other strange happenings that day (which again, will not be discussed here). :-)

In untitled (picture tube) a videocamera records the side view of a picture tube. This picture is simultaneously shown by the picture tube. In Dust a slide-projector is placed behind a television set and projects the pure projection light onto the rear of the television set. The videocamera records dust particles floating in the projectors beam of light and transmits the image directly to the television screen. In untitled (tv in tv) a television set is placed on a stand that is too small ...
