Sonoran Desert greenery and Ragged Top (mountain) in Arizona's Ironwood Forest National Monument (October 2022)
There were pockets of agriculture here and there along the Columbia, and the bright greens made a welcome contrast to the arid hillside and dark basalt rock. We took advantage of a pullover area here.
Notice that that Cascade Mountains of Oregon have appeared on the horizon. A big surprise is hiding over there!

The hills of the Aravalli range are usually bare and gaunt, especially during the summer months, but burst out in green after a few monsoon showers.

In the very early hours of the morning, a lusciously vegetated valley in the Swiss Alps (Canton of St. Gallen) is overlooked by the glowing rock faces of a nearby mountain illuminated by the first rays of the sun.

New Zealand
Some spots in New Zealand we only had time to pass through. The Lake Kaniere region was one such area where we were driving through on the way back to Greymouth from Hokitika Gorge with Charlotte asleep. I ducked out for a few minutes to photography these falls before resuming the rainy drive back. The greens in the area were literally glowing!

Verdant Knot
A detail captured in the deep of the forest.
I walked along a shady path in the middle of the wood where very little light can filter only a few rays of light. When I suddenly noticed this little jewel in the thicket of the bush. With a bit of patience and my telephoto lens, I managed to capture this glimpse.
A new addition to my Wanderer Gallery.

While in the Canadian Rockies in early Sept, I woke up one morning to snow and very cold temperatures. It was a photographer's paradise for the next couple days! This is a shot of Verdant Creek in Kootenay National Park. The water is loaded with glacial silt which is where it gets the vibrant blue color.
As fall approaches here in Colorado, things tend to start "browning out" as the rains become less frequent. This photo, taken in northern Georgia in Amicalola State Park near Dawsonville reminds me of the lushness that exists elsewhere in the country in fairly stark contrast to what we experience here at home. The richness and diversity of all the greens along this pathway just blew me away!
My first EXPLORE - 4.1.2015 - I honestly thought this was an April Fools Day joke. Happy to discover otherwise. :)
Upper Tahquamenon Falls, Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA, August 19, 2024
A nice spot for a stroll on a Saturday afternoon. The skies might have been totally grey, but in the thick of the woods in Wimbledon, green was the colour of the day. And silver, on the silver birch trees ...
I thought perhaps everyone needed to take a break from the dull winter landscape and take a peek at a more verdant scene.
Have a great day peeps.
Catch up with you all real soon.
A whimsical steampunk robot with a rounded teal and brass body, decorated with intricate golden gears, rivets, and vintage clockwork details. Its head sprouts lush green leaves like a living plant, blending nature with machinery. The robot’s expressive round eyes and subtle smile give it a friendly, curious demeanor. One hand delicately holds a glass terrarium containing tiny ferns, symbolizing its role as a guardian of life. The color palette features soft turquoise, worn brass, and pastel pink highlights, giving it a weathered yet charming antique look. The background is softly muted to enhance focus on the character, evoking a surreal fusion of nature, technology, and gentle fantasy.
