In October 1969, the Mark II range was launched, again styled by Michelotti, with a longer nose and tail in the same style as the incoming Triumph Stag and the same passenger cabin, smart new facia/instrument layout and better trim. Still with servo assisted front disc brakes and independant suspension. With the Estate car model built by Carbodies.

The original PI had been Britains first fuel injested family car, and had earned something of a rogue repution particularly with engine fires. The Mk.II attempted to address this situation but otherwise was mechanically unchanged with 138bhp and a 105mph top speed. Visually distinguished from the 2000 with different wheels with wider tyres, and badging. Overdrive was standard.

The 2.5 PI was supplanted in the mid 1970's by the 2500TC and 2500S

An incredibly late 505, and one of quite a few (at least four) local ones left, this is the only non GTi model left around here however. Obviously, the Estate models survive quite a bit better than the saloons, I haven't seen one of the latter for absolutely ages now, at least 80% of the survivors must be the Family models now. This is a genuine OAP spec car, and has probably been in the same hands for some time now, quite obviously a cherished vehicle, taxed into the later half of next year too.
