En plumage nuptial, il a un dessus noir avec des liserés bruns. Sa poitrine est fortement striée et ses parties inférieures largement envahies par une vaste tache ventrale noire.

This morning I went on a butterfly walk and talk at the El Moro Elfin Forest in Los Osos. Pat Brown led the walk and she is truly a font of Information. The morning started out quite overcast, but at the end of our time, the sun broke through and a lovely butterfly posed for us. It was a good morning!

Coenagrion pulchellum at Westhay Moor NNR. Last weekend we were searching for the occasional large red and there were no blues at all. This weekend they are everywhere in their hundreds.

I was trying to ID this. Apparently there's a vulnerable species 'Bay Checkerspot' endemic to the bay area. However, this one looks like a 'Variable' variety. Taken @WindyHill OSP (Anniversary Trail).
