Close up of the gills of a Nembrotha kubaryana, also known as the variable neon slug or the dusky nembrotha,This animal can reach a total length of more than 120 mm. It is a large dark-bodied nudibranch which may have green stripes running down the length of the body or have green raised spots. The margin of the foot and head is a vivid red-orange. The rhinophores and gills may be red or green.
Although there are over 200 species of Hawk in the world, this is the only one considered a resident of the Falkland Islands....We rarely saw it during our visit but apparently it is widely distributed in Southern South America , particularly in Andean Regions.

Reflections of architectural forms in water... Water gives a sensation of movement which leads to a variability of forms. This artwork is a macro photography in a ruin of antiquity.
I'm not sure what this Variable Oystercatcher snagged, but whatever it was turned out to be disappointing, because the bird was back in the water within seconds...!

Bird of prey- falconry display Linlithgow palace.
The Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) is a species of eagle-owl, a type of bird that resides much over Eurasia. It is often just called the eagle-owl in Europe and Asia.[4]
It is one of the largest species of owl. Females can grow to a total length of 75 cm (30 in), with a wingspan of 188 centimetres (6 feet 2 inches). Males are slightly smaller.[5] This bird has distinctive ear tufts, with upper parts that are mottled with darker blackish colouring and tawny. The wings and tail are barred. The underparts are a variably hued buff, streaked with darker colouring. The facial disc is not very defined. The orange eyes are distinctive.[6] At least 12 subspecies of the Eurasian eagle-owl are described.[7]
The Variable Longhorn Beetle (Stenocorus meridianus) is a large beetle reaching up to 25 mm in length and is a clumsy flier. The colour is variable from a uniform dull yellow through to almost black. It is common over much of England, but this is the first time I have knowingly seen one!
This beetle is to be found around the margins of wooded areas, where the adult beetles frequent flowers and shrubs, and can be seen mainly in the months of May and June. The larvae develop in the damaged timber of diseased deciduous trees.
Falkland Island, East Island
Widespread in the Falklands, this medium sized hawk is seldom seen soaring in thermals, as they prefer to sit on any type of elevated post for long periods at a time. Aptly named because this hawk comes in several color morphs. This is the dark morph.
The Total Lunar Eclipse of 2019 January 20 was very pretty despite variable clouds. This is an HDR combine of 5 exposures which shows what the human eye and brain sees very nicely. Taken with my Canon 6D attached to my Celestron EdgeHD 8 inch telescope.
