“The true magic of this broken world lay in the ability of the things it contained to vanish, to become so thoroughly lost, that they might never have existed in the first place.”

― Michael Chabon, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

Blue hour

Your heart knows the way. Run in that direction....

The last shot I got of this one from yesterday.

Could not find it around the same location today...

The natural elements were doing a number on this old fence. It reminds me that you only go round once.

Happy Fence Friday everyone.

Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire

winds that swirl

about us may be

an agitation

of spirits, how

they tap window

glass, a code

with no message,

or funnel up

in a twist of dust,

a wonder, as if

to show us

something

we cannot see

because we are blind

to the numinous

though we know

they might be

there, reaching

to touch our cheek,

a sudden coolness

in a closed room,

a kiss, as it were,

of light or shadow

or nothing but

a lingering

scent

This impressively slender, 104 meter long bicycle bridge across the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal near the village of Nigtevecht provides a much needed addition to the local and regional recreational bicycle network. A wildlife connection was created at the same time and location, allowing wildlife to cross the canal and connecting two areas of natural beauty.

The great slabs of the slopes of An Teallach...made me almost feel at home on the limestone of Twisleton

In the morning, the fort was covered in clouds.....this was clicked as we were descending.

Have a great weekend and wish u all a Happy Dasshera in advance :)

Bhupya thanks for the camera :)

I have shot this fence line before but it is slowly falling apart into the lake. But for now it's still a great subject on a misty morning. Lake Tutira, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

Just over the fence is a field ready for harvesting. The vanishing line of the fence and the cloud tend to balance the image. A friend however says never cross your image with a diagonal. Tell me your thoughts.

Happy Fence Friday

... Captured this in the very strong winds that continue to howl through Maryland and up the east coast. The winds are so strong out of the northwest that the river has been vanishing here along the Chesapeake Bay.

I noticed that the cloud bank was close to Baltimore, with an opening to the west, and figured there would be a great shot at colorful sunset, so headed down to my Dad's house on the river to the pretty riverless view.

This is not a view of the pier and benches that you get to normally see without wearing a bathing suit :)

The fabulous Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire, taken.on my phone on a grim sunday

We encountered two days of heavy fog on the Blue Ridge Parkway during our recent road trip. I took a brief walk at this place in North Carolina while my wife was browsing a crafts store. I know there was autumn color out there; I just couldn't see it. :-)

Happy Fence Friday, folks!

Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.
