As suggested by member Steve Watson, a similar composition in black & white - I think I like this composition a bit better - it seems much more abstract in black & white

Thinking of crossing that bridge to the other side but I've no money for the toll (bit.ly/FBAstro).

Enjoy this dazzling image of the Vancouver skyline on Burrard Inlet on one fine summer night in August. The centerpiece is the Vancouver Convention Centre, consisting of Canada Place and the new West Building to the right. Together, it is one of the largest convention centers in North America.

TIA is hosting a Sizzling End of Summer Sale between now and September 30th! Any single purchase from the official website is now 20% off! When making your purchase, you will be prompted to enter the coupon code, which is: SUPERSUMMER

Ooooh, by the way! I have been asked about my company name a few times, and I would just like to clarify -- it’s not “TIA” (“tee-uh”). It’s “TIA” (TEE-EYE-AAAY). . .pronounce each initial and you have it! ;o) Thanks!

So just before Christmas I let my Flickr pro membership lapse. The new price of almost $80 Canadian is over a 60% increase from what I paid a year ago. I don't mind paying for Flickr but I've reached the point where I'm not willing to fork over that much $. So it seems once you stop paying you become "persona non grata" according to Flickr under Smugmug. I've been on the platform for 15 years now and most of those were as a paid member. So getting this annoying notification has made me rethink being part of Flickr entirely. I don't know of any companies who succeed by bullying their long time customers and threatening them with what is borderline extortion.

Another photo from the summer of 2015. It turns out after 25 years on Main Street, Lucky's Books and Comics is looking for a new home as that part of the block is going to be redeveloped. Glad I took this photo of the funky little storefront when I did as by 2016 the Shamrock was gone and the building was repainted a much lighter shade of blue.

An old shot of the windows at the BC Sugar warehouse taken from the Powell Street Overpass. I don't think I could take this shot today as a huge elevated roadway has now been put up right in front of the old building to access the expanded container port on the waterfront. Here's a Street View link that shows the supports for the new roadway still under construction back in the spring.

It has always been the way for more than 60 years

At the Sing Chong Food Centre on Keefer Street. I'd framed up a shot of the empty store and just as I pressed the shutter one of the butchers came out of a back room. What I noticed last Sunday on a walk through Chinatown was a lack of customers either on foot or by automobile. Now we are well into November and Covid cases are on the rise everywhere, people are probably just staying closer to home. The usually bustling Keefer Street was pretty empty so I was able to take my time photographing the shops along the street.

The first in a week of epic sunsets to illuminate the city. The colours of the "Sails of Light" visual event can be seen on the sails of Canada Place on the left hand side of the photo.
