Downtown Toronto
1) The element this photo shows is Value.
2) The subject of this image could be the bike, but i would say that the lines would be the main focus in the picture as they cross through around the picture.
3) Something that is visually striking in this image is the emptiness in the photo which usually is mostly populated and i think that was a very successful thing about the image.
4) I can improve on this image by not getting people in the reflections of the glass. To get my picture to fully justify that there is NO one in the image or around it.

I found a book of California photos that I hadn't looked at for a long time and decided to "find the shapes" in preparation for devising more abstractions. I also added some shading to help with value studies.
Stay tuned, I'm going to play with them in photoshop!

This image engaged my attention because it is in the middle of my back yard leading down to my garden with beautiful landscaping on the sides of it. This pergola is very special to me because my husband made it for our wedding. We got married right in front of it, but in a different location. This photo shows value with the way the sun is shining in the background with elements being dark and others being lighter. The way the light hits the pergola shows different shades and tints to the white. This picture was taken in my backyard.
