My subscription to Time Out Chicago ended about a year ago, and I never resubscribed. I do still use the TOC website quite often, since the Reader's redesign made looking for events and movies more trouble than it's worth. Still this letter amused me.
Every single one of the "included" benefits or services are either the function of a weekly magazine (special issues, listings, restaurant openings and reviews) and/or are available online. Full access to TOC DIgital? That's included with any internet connected browser.

Neil Seek distills dried lavender to extract essential oils and hydrosol for use in culinary, skin care, and spa products sold online and in The Little House at Seek Lavender in Culpeper, Va. He and wife Mary are using a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Value-Added Producer Grant to help finance production and marketing of these nature-inspired items. USDA media by Jay Pinsky.
