These double stack trains are a new addition to the Dayton district. This was my first catch of one in the rain going by my house.

I set up at Valleyview Drive for one last Moon opp for the year, on the evening of Dec 7, 2014, for the (near) Full Cold Moon rising over downtown Edmonton. The temperature was around -10 C with no wind and the sky was very clear except for some haze on the eastern horizon. Having shot from this location many times over the years, and because this was a dark rise, I decided to zoom in a lot for that large Moon illusion effect. This composite image spans about 22 minutes, with the Moon about 36 hours past full (97.5%). The sequence nicely shows the changes in color and brightness of the Moon as it rose.

it was a clear day in the san fernando valley yesterday!

An early morning coil train blasts through Valleyview, Ohio at Harper Road. This is what I call my first cheat train. Finally after 1 year, I have my ATCS (Advanced Train Control System) Monitor program up and running. I now can see what's coming before it gets here without sitting and hoping one shows up! Yes, it's cheating! But don't fishermen use fish finders? I think the actual time spent getting it all put together was 3 days...not bad considering!
