Vacuum forming demo and play time.

The beast. I've had this knocking around in my life for close to twenty years, high time someone gets some sue out of it.

We tested out a new (old) manufacturing technology in the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab - vacuum forming! We fabricated a platen and frame using the laser cutter, then used a toaster oven and a shop-vac to complete the process. Participants were able to vacuum-form a range of shapes out of plastic plates to use as candy molds or decorative artwork! Special thanks to the volunteers who helped make this project a success.

Staff from the Kingwood Library participated in the Bayou City Book Festival at Lone Star College-Kingwood on April 8, 2017. We showcased some of the library system's services, like reading therapy dogs and maker activities. We also had 3D printing and vacuum forming. Thanks to our community partner, Creekwood Middle, festival goers got to make their own pens.

Houston Mini Maker Faire 2016 was the largest yet, and HCPL had a booth in the "Makerspace Pavillion", demonstrating 3D printing, CNC machining, simple circuits and vacuum forming - all while issuing library cards and checking out "Maker" books.

Testing out simple forms to show glass fuser/slumpers to find out what is possible to do in glass. This form is not a final form but rather just to get an idea of the shape. I am interested in creating a wall of glass with pockets for growing food.
