One of the sights of the A40 going in to London, thanks to Tesco for this masterpiece of Art Deco extravagance. Built by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners (who else?!) in 1932, was used by the Hoover Company for manufacturing vacuum cleaners. The canteen on the side (left/west) was added in 1938, and further additions were during the years. Closed in the early 1980s, acquired by Tesco in 1989, Tesco worked with the Grade 2 listing to produce a working "museum" to 1930s architecture, and well they have done too. Two main building were demolished, and the car park is on their sites. The front offices are let by Parkinson Brown, and contain many treasures within the doors, again sympathetically restored and maintained. The building is floodlit in green until 10pm.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Currituck prepares to open its hull to empty sand to the bottom of the ocean about 500 feet from the shoreline of 15th Street at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. The Corps dredge vessel has been off the East Coast of Rudee Inlet from July 18-21, 2012, removing 7,515 cubic yards of sand (shoaling) in the federal navigation channel. While the vessel was here, Col. Paul Olsen and several Norfolk District employees and interns met the crew, toured the vessel and saw first-hand how a hopper dredge works to re-nourish the shoreline. “I love to clean because I want to get rid of dust so my allergies and asthma won’t act up. I help my mom vacuum everyday and it helps a lot. I also love to clean to keep the house shiny. My best tip to keep the house tidy is to pick up my toys when I am done with them.”

...translation: never forget the duty....

Man with patriotic arse looking for vacuum cleaner attachment for doing multiple piercings seeks advice from guantanamo man on day release as light-fingered polo man snarfs a cable for an Electrolux 340L.

Update: I just saw this man walking past my house still wearing the exact same clothes. From my first floor vantage point, however, I could admire the tattoos on his head.

"Absolutely love it. The wife and I have been through many vacuums in our 42 years of marrige - there's nothing like it - picks up cat fur - we have had 3 and 4 cats - you can't get anything that picks up fur off of a rug any better than this" "The attachments that come with it are top quality - it's got a great long electric cord - the hose is nice high quality, the floor brush works excellent on our tile floors, great machine" "Service you can't beat. Where else can you bring something back once a year and have it fixed for free, have new brushes installed, new hose, you can't beat that kind of service" David Peirce of Fairhaven MA does a review about his Handy Andy's Quality Vac™ Vacuum Cleaner from Handy Andy's Quality Vacuum Cleaners, Sales, Service, Repairs, Parts, 1693 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford MA 02746 (508) 997-8011

When the women are away, the men charge at the dust puppies with vacuum cleaners. Or so I've heard.

Panoramic view of my room at home, cluttered with books and boxes and dominated by my computer (a relatively old iMac). This is essentially what's left of the stuff I had in California plus a few things I purchased in Japan. At this rate, the next time we move, I'll just need one box for everything...

The bookshelves are semi-earthquake resistant, meaning one has braces and the other doesn't. (The bookshelf that could cause the most damage if it fell over is braced.)

The image is heavily distorted because the panoramic app on my cell phone was never intended to be used so close to the subject matter (being designed for outdoor panoramas of landscapes).

Round variant.

Vintage Jinx rug conditioner....long before 'Love My Carpet' & 'Renuzit' came along.......

Figo doens't like the vacuum cleaner. Last time I used it, he disapeared... I found Luca in the kitchen, but no sign of Figo... Luckily, I know where to look: on the stairs, or in the bedroom...

The nice thing about stairs for Figo that they are suitable for his very loooong legs!

My friend, Lynn (aka lrayholly) from Gulfport, MS and I were challenged by our mutual friend Bev (aka baskyes) to do a photo together. I sent her 4 photos and this is what she came up with. She sent me 3 photos and this (above) is what I came up with.

Please don't be alarmed at the sight of Henry Micro (coloured yellow) encased in a plastic bag. It's self induced situation. He's into erotic asphyxiation.

Everyone to their own, but young impressionable vacuum cleaners might to looking on. Perhaps this is a activity for the store room.
