As the depths of our current lockdown continue, here is one from last summer in the Dales just to lift my spirits. This is the path up and out of the village of Feizor. I hope to be there again soon!! It will be a while until I receive the vaccine though.
The most common side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine are mild and get better within a week.
They can include:
1. A sore arm from the injection
2. Feeling tired
3 A headache
5. Feeling achy
5. Mild flu-like symptoms
This years "booster shots" (Flu and Covid19) resulted in a couple of hours where I could not get warm. Lots of layers of clothing, the heating on full and a couple of Paracetamol (Acetaminophen ). This was followed by an hour stripped to the waist sitting in front of a fan with the windows open. After that I felt pretty normal.
Minor in comparison with what getting the diseases does.

Yep, this little jig from a Downy Woodpecker summarized my feelings after receiving the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. I am sure that this feeling is universal.
It's finally here, the vaccine to protect us against the rotten virus, my image is what the vaccine may look like, you never know!
"Let's hope it works
impressively, magically curing the world 🌍 of this Covid-19 infection."
Fingers crossed x

According to the CDC, vaccination has prevented about 3/4 million deaths among children in the United States over a 20-year period and has saved many times that many illnesses.
The prevented deaths and hospitalizations save nearly $300 billion in direct costs and over at trillion dollars in indirect costs.

Some people don't want the vaccine because they "are not sure about the evidence or the safety".
Over 5 Million people have died worldwide. More than 8.23 billion doses have been administered across 184 countries. How much more proof do you need?
Early signs suggest the Omicron Covid variant is more transmissible than the current Delta strain.
There are currently 437 confirmed cases of Omicron in the UK, figures show.
Earlier, Wales' health minister said they were expecting a significant wave of Omicron that would peak in January.
In Scotland, Covid rules are going to be reviewed daily as Omicron cases rise, and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has urged employers to let staff work from home until at least the middle of January where possible.
Scientists believe Omicron could spread more easily than Delta, and could out-compete Delta to become the dominant variant in the UK.
But much is still unknown, and it could still take weeks to understand how severe illness from the variant is and what it means for the effectiveness of vaccines.

Twas the night before Christmas and Santa got the jab.
Now he's safe to deliver to all the houses in the land...
Think somebody hacked the dentist sign at the end of my road.
Wish I could say this was the weirdest part of my run today.
Six blocks later, a young guy jumped in front of me and demanded my headphones and running shoes.
Threatened me with what appeared to be a sandwich.
I said, No.
Sheesh...

On the day when a campaign to have babies inoculated against the RSV respiratory virus is launched, we bring this record of the work to develop the BCG vaccines back in the 1950s, which went on to save many children's lives. After many years of an epidemic of Tuberculosis finally a vaccine was developed that would break the cycle and save lives.
