Russ' Mk2 Jetta is the January page of the 2011 SDOBBINS Photography VW/Audi Calendar!

 

Russ’ Jetta is hands down one of my favourite cars in the US scene right now. Plain and simple.

 

It’s hard to put my finger on just one detail though, because Russ’ Mk2 is the perfect combination of all the right bits. From the perfectly-fitted 16x9” BBS RS’ to the Rallye front clip and chrome VR6 bits (care of Mr. McCoy), the beautifully-trimmed interior to the perfect amount of smoothed-ness, inside and out, all the boxes are ticked.

 

I had the pleasure of shooting Russ’ Jetta for the October 2010 issue of Performance VW while I was in Georgia for Southern Worthersee. Just as McCoy mentioned while we were first seeing the car the night both of us arrived in Atlanta, “you just don’t get an appreciation for how well the wheels fit and how low it really is until you see it in person.”

Looks to be the real deal of a limited, UK only run of Storm edition Corrados, of which 250 were available in this colour, Mystic Blue, and another 250 being sold in Classic Green. The saggy tyres made me aware of this to begin with, but for a few moments I just thought how rare these actually seem now, especially compared to the Scirocco they kind of replaced. I suppose the market for 2.9 V6 Coupes isn't massive though.

Top spec Mk3 Golf at the time, which is presumably why it merited a photo back then. Good to see now as these (VR6s) seem to have disappeared quickly. This one looks to have disappeared sometime around 2006. It's no longer on the DVLA tax site, but there's a MOT fail and then a pass dated August '05 on the MOT history site. 136k on the clock back then.

 

Looks like the owner had all the advisories rectified at the time, as there was a clean sheet when it passed.

Volkswagen Golf MK2, VR6, one of the newest projects from Club Golf Serbia. We were honored to take first photos of it. owner, Veljko Jovanovic says that project is almost finished. There are couple more things to be finalized, but it is almost done.

 

Color matching steering wheel – Italvolanti Galaxy. Haven’t seen many of these, and it matches the car nicely.

This is my old car. I took these photos the day before it got sold. Had the blue Scirocco and Eskild with me aswell.

 

Tried some different editing than I'm used to. Interesting what some brush strokes can do!
