The day had been spent enjoying the sun on Armadale beach, shell hunting and paddling with the family. A few days before I had enjoyed a grand morning adventure on The Cuillin Ridge and this evening I was given a green light to go and have another bit of fun in The Black Cuillin.
Having an evening to play with, I chose a shorter route and headed round to Loch Slapin to head up Bla Bheinn. To my dismay , the sunshine that we had baked on in Armadale for most of the day had disappeared and as I rounded the corner at Torrin,Bla Bheinn and the surrounding hills were all clagged in – ah well, not to worry, I ‘d still get some exercise , if not any views!
Being only a few weeks after the summer solstice, I had lots of day light ahead of me and I started as slowly as I could, heading up the hill. The reason for my snails pace was the slim hope that the longer I took, the higher the chances the cloud may dissipate from the summits!! Meeting lots of people on their way off the mountain, it didn’t look or sound promising! Wet hair and cloths suggested a thick mist was hanging around the Blue mountain.
I eventually reached the corrie and the cloud was spilling over the bealach to my west and filling the bowl, it was really atmospheric, but not what I was after!! I took a right turn and started to head slowly up Bla Bheinns SE ridge , taking frequent breaks and hugging the top of the cliffs.
Then it started to happen… at about 800m metres I turned around and started to notice the Red Cuillin behind me were now clear of cloud. To add to my excitement, I was now above the clouds that were floating in from the sea and up Loch Slapin, excitement rose and my pace quickened! It just got better and better! As I approached the summit my shadow was cast behind me and my Brocken Spectre followed me to the summit with a crown of Glories! Amazing! Then the crowning glory as I stepped up onto the summit – the whole of the black and Red Cuillin at my feet! The cloud had dropped as had the wind and I spent a good hour in solitude on the fine mountains. An evening I wouldn’t forget in a hurry… Hope you enjoy the video

While on holiday in the South West of the UK I saw a photo of an interesting building on the cover of a bus timetable left in the apartment we were staying in. After a bit of research I found out the building was in fact a lighthouse called Burnham-on-Sea Low Lighthouse. After a day at the beach with the family I headed off in the evening to Burnham-on-Sea in pursuit of a photographic opportunity, I got there in time for sunset and it was a stunning scene. Unfortunately I was not the only photographer there but I managed to get a nice composition which I later found out is one that no-one else has shot and uploaded which is great, if the other photographers were not there I may have missed this less obvious shot and taken another similar shot to everyone else.
I captured this shot in a single shot rather than an HDR and I am happy I did. I had to open up the shadows a small amount as I exposed for the highlights. Other than shadow adjustment I did a little split toning, added some contrast and some minor curves adjustment.

Paragon features its first vintage and earliest dance from the 1920s - The Charleston.
The Charleston is a 1920s social jazz dance named after the harbor city of Charleston, South Carolina. The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States by a 1923 tune called "The Charleston" by composer/pianist James P. Johnson, which originated in the Broadway show Runnin' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade. Runnin' Wild ran from 28 October 1923 through 28 June 1924. The Charleston dance's peak popularity occurred from mid-1926 to 1927. It’s believed that the Charleston actually originated from a dance called the Juba. Juba’s origins began in Africa, and enslaved Africans brought it to South Carolina. The Juba involves one hand that’s constantly slapping and one foot that’s always stomping.
Solo 20s Charleston gained popularity in the early 2000s, in many local Lindy Hop scenes around the world, prompted by competitions such as the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown (in 2005 and 2006 particularly) and workshops in the dance taught by high-profile dancers such as the Harlem Hot Shots (formerly known as The Rhythm Hot Shots) and a range of independent dancers.

Fiacaill Ridge
Winter had been poor , no two ways about it, in fact more snow had probably fallen in March and April than in the previous 3 months…
Waking at the weekend to some glorious weather and I wangled an afternoon adventure. The majority of the prior week’s snow had fallen towards the Cairngorms so I made a bee line for the Northern Corries.
Parking up amongst the late season skiers, I headed off with the sun glasses on and headed straight towards the snowy hills. There was a slight breeze as I left the car but as the day went on this died down to leave near on perfect conditions. The footpaths were all busy but as I struck off towards the ridge that separates the two Norries, the footfall fell away, leaving me in my own company. The snow was soft lower down and the poles were useful if I found a deep hole between the rocks but as the ridge narrowed the crest was largely snow free and I was soon perched high above Coire an t-Sneachda , enjoying the fabulous position. Ahead was the Fiacaill Ridge and with crampons and ice axe packed I was unsure whether these would be required until I was virtually at the start of the climb! The snow was continuous and sloping into Coire an Lochan and if any of this continued onto the ridge then the winter tools were being taken out. However , sticking to the left of the ridge line the rock was dry and mostly snow free so I scrambled up the wonderfully sticky granite having a great time. All too soon and the fun was over as I crested the ridge onto the plateaux . There was no rush – another advantage of this time of year, and there were many hours until sunset.
I then ambled along the corries rim, chatting to climbs who had enjoyed some lovely conditions on some of the steeper routes in the Norries. The sun was beating down and all that was left to do was take a few snaps and try and avoid the ski runs as I headed back down Fiacaill a Choire Chais to the car. A superb afternoon
