My first visit to see these awesome sculptures by Andy Scott at night. Such a cool place to spend a couple of hours mooching. Surprisingly busy at 9.30pm too.....
In an monumental feat of engineering, The Kelpies, two 30 metre high stainless steel sculptures, rose from the ground in 2013, towering over The Helix and the Forth & Clyde canal.
Construction of The Kelpies began on 17th June 2013. The two enormous structures were manufactured and installed by SH Structures Limited.
The build was officially completed on 27th November 2013, and was celebrated with a 'topping-out' ceremony featuring Duke and Baron, the Clydesdale life models for The Kelpies.
The Kelpies by numbers
300 tonnes each
30 metres high
1200 tonnes of steel-reinforced concrete foundations per head
928 unique stainless steel skin-plates
Built on site in 90 days
The worlds largest equine sculptures
This collared kingfisher (todiramphus chloris) would sometimes make a brief, early morning appearance on a tree at the edge of the sea. The bird would invariably fly back into thick mangroves after a short time. Photographed at Rimlay Bay, Hat Yao Noi, Phang Nga, Thailand.
After all: The upload works.
Immerhin, der Upload klappt.

This riot of Kookaburras made a noisy visit this morning. Yes riot is the collective noun for a group of Kookaburras, couldn't think of a better name. Anyway they broke the monotony of the lockdown.
You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.

Une charmante visite sur cette belle orchis pyramidale, sur une pelouse préservée du Conservatoire des Ardennes.
unfortunately the butterfly appeared suddenly while I was taking the photo and disappeared the same fast .-)
Before going to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park this past autumn, I came across an article on "Little Visited Areas of the Great Smoky Mountains". It mentioned several trails that saw few visitors and a few roads that had few cars. On one of those roads, as I was going slowly around a curve, I saw this creek under a canopy of trees.
A lovely Sunday outing to British Wildlife Centre with my friend... coerced into photographing a snake!

Wright-Locke Farm has an array of bee hives near the flower field, so the blossoms are often abuzz. I'll have to try some of their honey!
Evening on the promenade along the Motlawa. The reconstructed old town of Gdansk, at least in some parts, can take us back to the time of the Hanseatic League. The old houses and the Crane Gate are not only reflected in the water, but also mirror the times.
As one of the pearls of the Baltic Sea, Gdansk thus joins several other Hanseatic cities along the coast.
After a wonderful weekend in Aberdfi(Mid Wales) we were passing Fairbourne on our way home so turned off to visit as we hadn't been there for a while .....so glad we did as the light was amazing
