Cover painting: Zoffany - Mr and Mrs Dalton and their Niece by Marh de Huille
Easily the most energetic Festive Overture ever put on record. It simply sparkles.
I believe Arthur Fiedler is a much underrated conductor, due to his choice of career path. He chose Pops, and he was very good at it, but he was also a very gifted interpreter. I've never been disappointed with any of his recordings of classical repertoire, and this is one of his finest albums.

Check out the sturdy IKEA shelves which have lasted 20 years or so in several locales and a few recognizable spines, from left: The River; Original Musicquarium; a Manhattan Records 12" with the Mondrian vibe; Bob Marley reissues in plastic; and on the right side my beloved copy of "The Kids are Alright" sdtk.
