"The GSW Headquarters in Berlin by Sauerbruch Hutton is designed with a low energy concept and uses systems of ventilation, heating, and lighting in order to reduce the energy consumption.
The solar shading system and the solar flue were designed with the use of the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analyses which allowed for the room temperatures throughout the year to be observed. The west façade of the building consists of three layers that create the solar flue. The colored panels on this side of the building can be opened and closed by the occupants in order to let in or shut out light; however, they can also be controlled by management in order to prevent overheating. The east façade of the building consists of two layers, creating a buffer, and is ventilated on each floor."

Egret seemed to be enjoying spinning on the Whirlybird, it was on it twice while we watched. In this photo it seems to be twisted into a rather odd angle. Not a brilliant photo as the day was overcast

This is Maiden Rock, located in the ancient mountain village of Stary Goor. According to local legend, girls who suffered from unrequited love committed suicide by jumping off this cliff.
When we got out of the gorge, the sun was high and it was so nice to bask in its rays. The ideal time for a second breakfast, especially since the path was not close. We were going to visit the mountain village of Stary Goor and we had to hurry, because the place is quite popular and tourists were starting to wake up. Blue sky, huge clouds, we drove along the mountain serpentine and looked forward to future masterpieces. Everything was going well until the car stalled and refused to start. Probably, being in the middle of nowhere in a broken car is rather unpleasant, but I only thought that I would be left without masterpieces. Pretty selfish, I admit. It is worth noting that in the Republic of Dagestan, automotive fuel is not of very good quality, and it is common for cars to stall. When the car was rented, it was supplied with spare parts and instructions on what and how to replace in case of such a situation. While we were changing the part, we doused the engine with gasoline. Photographers... We stood for half an hour and ventilated the undercar space. The car started up and we continued on our way. When we climbed into the mountains, an old friend named rain greeted us cordially.
I'm not even surprised, I'm probably used to it. There were many tourists. Trying to think positively, I decided - what a variety of models. I photographed dozens of people I didn't know on this rock. It was quite interesting to watch their emotions as they overcame their fear. But I never got my masterpiece...

"Windswept", a sculpture by April Pine depicts the architect of the Australian Constitution - Andrew Clark (1848 - 1907), who was a founding father and co-author of the Australian Constitution. The sculpture is a cross pollination of knowledge across architecture, art and engineering. While present and solid from one perspective, it disappears with a perfect elevation.
The Crystal Mill, also known as the Old Mill or the Sheep Mountain Power House, is a wooden power house built in 1893 on a rock on the Crystal River in Crystal, Colorado, USA. Despite the name, it is not actually a mill, but an air compressor driven by a water turbine. The compressed air was then used in the nearby silver mines to ventilate the tunnels and to operate other machines or tools.
Regno Unito, Londra, The Gherkin (From Bishopsgate), Estate 2022
The Gherkin is the popular nickname for the office block opened in 2004 at No.30 St Mary Axe. The road is named after the nearby Church of St Mary Axe (the 'axe' part referring to a relic kept in the church). The skin of the building is double-glazed and the space between the glazing is ventilated to help with temperature control and reducing energy use. The Gherkin is said to use only half the energy of similar sized office towers. Most of the panes of glass are completely flat - the only curved glass is the 'lens' at the very top. Each floor has been rotated 5 degrees relative to the floor below. The top of the tower has been kept as an open space to give an uninterrupted, all-round view.

This attractive Lark was not singing when I took this shot; I am assuming it was somehow ventilating... 38 C (100 F) in the sun and I had walked about 750 m (about a half mile) from the road where I parked, up the right bank of the Zarqa River where it crosses the road from Borma down to the Jordan River Valley... according to Google Earth, I was at -132 m (-433 ft) BSL (below sea level) and not yet all the way down to the Jordan River Valley.
I was baking... the end of a six hour birding day at 11:15 AM... no Golden Hour lighting at this spot... do I really have to get up at 4:30 AM here? I already know the answer to that question...
I planned this birding trip along the Zarqa River from up near Jerash down to the Jordan River Valley north of the Dead Sea.... driving, walking, driving walking... not many birds yesterday... but a bad day birding is still better than a good day at... :-)
This eagle was taking shelter from a steady rain. The "Old Man's Beard" (Usnea spp.) here is plentiful and healthy. Usnea is a Lichen with is of the fungus/algae family. The heavy growth of Usnea is evidence of a well ventilated forest that receives steady rainfall combined with clean air; this Lichen does not like air pollution.

In recent years, farmers have made increasing use of Bio-degradable ventilated polythene films to protect and provide optimum growing conditions for their vegetable crops. The sheeting also has small holes providing airflow to ensure maximum quality yield.
Took this early morning shot from the rear of my home in Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales overlooking adjacent farmland. The farmer has recently planted a Sweet Corn crop after last week ploughing and tilling the field. The sheeting will remain in place as the crop grows until its harvested.
Compositionally several factors attracted me in taking this shot...the polythene's lines enhancing perspective, the side light glistening and reflecting on it, the tree silhouettes and framing. In taking the shot with a Tamron 28-300mm lens, I also used a polarising filter to mitigate the reflecting light.
The scene also evoked childhood memories of my singing one of the most performed hymns in the United Kingdom - especially at School and Church Harvest Festivals...." We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land"....

Previously unpublished shot from February 7th 2020. By this time in the year most people would have been aware of the pandemic making it's way to the UK. I had seen it coming from mid January and was trying to capture as many shots as I could while I could - I knew that it would not be safe for long.
The pandemic is far from over. Hospitalisations are rising rapidly, with a lead start in Scotland sadly, and worryingly the rises are being seen in older people and those who are vulnerable. It's almost as if vaccine immunity is waning - who could have foreseen that! (/sarcasm)
We are averaging between 130-250 deaths per day where Covid is mentioned on the death certificate (this means that it is the cause or a contributory factor). This is far in excess of that you would expect with season flu. Consider that the best guess from latest ZOE study figures is that 1 in 18 are infected in Scotland just now and 10-30% will suffer long Covid. The long lasting morbidity burden is starting to dawn on Governments and people around the world who had not given it a thought previously. Covid is NOT a respiratory disease. It spreads through aerosols entering into the respiratory tract and mucous membranes but it directly affects the cardiovascular endothelium, platelet action and neurotransmission. It is a deeply nasty virus. This is a virus of blood clots - in your brain, heart, lungs and other internal organs. Risking infection just is not worth it.
Stay safe my Flickr friends. FFP2 or FFP3 masks in enclosed spaces, ventilate, isolate if infected and, lastly, wash you hands often.
The Berber families would store their grain and other commodities in granaries such as this fortified structure. The units were ventilated and many had more than one compartment. Each was accessible by a set of very steep and narrow steps. At the back, towards the gate are two examples of the containers used to store commodities. When I visited two or three ground level units had been converted into rental accommodation.

Transall C-160D is a medium-sized tactical transport aircraft developed and built in Franco-German cooperation. Due to its construction, it is perfectly suited for use on temporary airfields, such as in Africa. In the configuration with advanced self-protection (ESS European security strategy), it has additional protective measures.
The Transall is a twin-engine transport aircraft developed for military use with wings mounted on the fuselage, a shoulder cover. The tailplane was also mounted as high as possible in order to be able to pick up the cargo via a large ramp in the rear and - depending on the application - also to drop it in flight.
The cockpit of the Transall offers space for the pilot, the copilot and the on-board technician. A tactical system officer complements the crew if required by the operation. To protect the crew, the underbody of the cockpit and the front cargo space were designed with shelling-proof mats.
The hold is 13.51 meters long, 2.98 meters high and 3.15 meters wide. In order to increase the loading volume, parts of the cargo can also be twisted on the 3.70 meter long loading ramp. The cockpit is connected to the hold by a small staircase. The entire fuselage is designed as a pressure cabin, which is ventilated to a pressure difference of up to 0.32 bar. This allows a cruising altitude of over 8,000 meters.
The low-pressure tires of the chassis (3.0 to 3.3 bar) in combination with the suspension struts installed in the chassis nacelles on the fuselage enable the Transall to land and start even on unpaved surfaces. The main chassis consists of two suspension struts each with twin tires and can be lowered hydraulically for loading and unloading. This makes it easier to load vehicles and bulky goods via the rear ramp. The bow undercarriage also has twin tires and can be controlled by +/- 55 ° to the longitudinal axis. Using thrust reversal, the transall can turn on a normally wide runway.
Busco tu calor

Some days it's hard to see the sun and feel its warmth through the fog but you know it's there. It's a question of confidence.
Thanks to Jim and Katrien for being there:
"Words to the Sun"
The cold darkness breaks my will,
shrinks my voice.
I seek your warmth
to extend my gaze,
to open my life,
to ventilate my pain...
Rip the mist,
reach me before it become just a memory under the slab of time.

The De Tomaso Deauville was designed by Tom Tjaarda under Ghia. First exhibited at the Turin Motor Show 1970, the car was powered by the same 330 hp, 351 in³ (5763 cc) Ford Cleveland V8 as the De Tomaso Pantera. The car had a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph) and featured styling similar to that of the Jaguar XJ.
The Deauville had an independent rear suspension very similar to that used by Jaguar, and ventilated discs in all four wheels. It shares its chassis with the Maserati Quattroporte III. (Wikipedia)

The building has been designed as a cluster of 12 tapered towers that surround an atrium. The approach was to combine learning spaces with social spaces, balconies and gardens to encourage informal interaction. The facade has been created by curved pre-cast concrete panels. The building is naturally ventilated. Some people have referent the pods as 'dim sum' baskets, others referred to the towers as 'turnips"
