Late in the IPD era, VC took order of a large group of over 180 boxcars built from kits at United American Car co in Cartersville GA. This picture was taken in early 1982, as the economy entered a recession, and combined with de-regulation, crashed the IPD craze. Jackson MS, no photographer listed. JL Sessa collection.
VC 9008 seen photographed in summer of 1976, 6 months since it was constructed in December 1975 by BFF at their Ronovo PA plant. This was one of 55 such cars ordered by NRUC and delegated to the Virginia Central for IDP use. No photographer or location listed, but it sure looks like Acca yard, near where the current day BIDs terminal is located. JL Sessa collection.
