Waar waren we gebleven........
Op een landweg, waar ik vorig jaar juni deze foto maakte, die als eerste aan de beurt was geweest om te plaatsen, als ik door omstandigheden niet afgehaakt was.
Where were we.......
On a sand road, june last year, where I took this photo that would’ve been first to be posted, if I hadn’t quit through circumstances.
Happy birthday Ina!

Maine Northern Railway Train 521-11 switches LaJoie Growers on 4/11/2025.
LaJoie runs a warehouse here which loads and unloads products for the Twin Rivers Paper mill in Madawaska, since there isn't a whole lot of room at the mill. In addition to this LaJoie takes cars of fertilizer for local potato farms, in addition to shipping occasional loads of potatoes.
Behind me is the large Irving lumber transload, which can load 10-11 cars at a time with lumber from various mills in New Brunswick.
Once done working the US side, 521 will normally work the Irving mill across the river in Saint-Leonard, NB as well as dropping interchange traffic with CN. However on this day they didn't end up switching the mill.
At one point tracks continued south from here to Stockholm, where the line split with one leg going to Caribou and the other to Mapleton. The trackage from Caribou to Van Buren was pulled during the BAR's downsizing in the late 60-80's, while the Mapleton-Stockholm line survived for a few more years. After large plots of land were sold by the paper companies, the BAR got rid of the Mapleton-Stockholm portion after the loss of logs going to the paper mills.
A few customers remained in Van Buren until sometime in the 90's. Around 15-20 years ago, US Customs and Border Protection bought the remaining track running into downtown, to allow for a new border crossing to be built on the former right of way. Today the line dead ends around a mile south of this point.

The Netherlands Naval training vessel A902 Van Kinsbergen sailing though the Sound of Kerrera. A quick wiki search results in a nickname she is more commonly known due to her seakeeping: Van Kotsbergen, (English: Van Pukebergen).
I came across this young ibex while hiking in the Creux du Van on a rainy day. Not at all shy, it let itself be photographed from less than 1 meter away. I don't have any photographic equipment adapted to wildlife photography, all I had was my little Leica equipped with a prime lens 35mm.
From albany.org: "Built circa 1735, the house was used as military headquarters for a number of English generals during the French and Indian War. During the American Revolution the mansion once again served as military headquarters and was inhabited by Generals Schuyler, Gates, Poor, St. Clair and Colonels Morgan, Gansevoort and Arnold while formulating the plans for the battle of Saratoga." Cohoes, New York.

Fascinating architecture...leaning buildings? Not sure if that was by design or simply result of foundation movement.
Lovely

This old camper van was found inside a barn of an abandoned farm. Surrounded by straw ... I guess that's one of the reasons why it's still in a slightly good condition. The straw makes from the barn a dry environment so it preserves better.
Van is performing on Cyprus Avenue in Belfast Avenue today, so I thought a repolish and repost might be timely ;-)
Thias taken during an impromptu appearance alongside the James Brown Allstars in the Errigal Inn in Belfast.
This little pouch was a gift - a replica of Van Gogh sunflowers, which are my favoite flower. It actually had another bag folded up inside, but it is the perfect size to fit some of my favorite earrings.
A bit of indoor light painting in the foreground with my bike light, tree lights in the background. After several shots I preferred the f10 bokeh.
At this angle the model is 2.25" and the view is 2.75"
On our last visit to Hong Kong, there was street fighting just near our Hotel. this van was in the wrong street, at the wrong moment and paid the penalty.
