The series II and IIA are difficult to distinguish with only minor cosmetic differances the most significant mechanical change being the introduction of the new 2.25 ltr Diesel engine which after 1967 included a 2.6-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine . They came in a wide range of body styles and on a SWB 88 inch or LWB 109 inch chassis. This being a 1970 SWB soft top model.
In 1969 (February) home market models had the head lamps moved into the wings and sill panels were redesigned to be shallower a few months later

This (Defender) model was introduced in 1983 as the Land Rover Ninety and the Land Rover One Ten, with the numbers representing the wheelbase in inches, later a long wheel base 127 was introduced.. The Ninety and One Ten replaced the earlier Land Rover Series III, and at the time of launch, the only other Land Rover model in production was the Range Rover.
The One Ten was launched in 1983, and the Ninety followed in 1984. From 1984, wind-up windows were fitted (Series models and very early One Tens had sliding panels), and a 2.5-litre (153 cu in), 68 horsepower (51 kW) diesel engine was introduced. This was based on the earlier 2.3-litre (140 cu in) engine, but had a more modern fuel-injection system as well as increased capacity. A low compression version of the 3.5-litre (214 cu in) V8 Range Rover engine transformed performance. It was initially available in the One Ten with a four-speed transmission with integral transfer case, then later in conjunction with a high strength 'Santana' five-speed transmission. With a higher performance 3.5 litre engine from 1988.
The biggest change to the Land Rover came in late 1990, when it became the Land Rover Defender, instead of the Land Rover 90 or 110. This was because in 1989 the company had introduced the Discovery model, requiring the original Land Rover to acquire a name. With the new model being significantly updated
In 1967, Rover became part of the Leyland Motor Corporation (LMC), which already owned Triumph. The next year, LMC merged with British Motor Holdings (BMH) to become the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC). Rover was grouped together with Triumph and Jaguar in the Specialist Division, which was the performance-luxury division of BLMC. This was the beginning of the end for the independent Rover Company, while Jaguar retained much of its independence within the Specialist Division, the former Rover and Triumph organisations worked on a series of shared projects throughout the 1970s - but the only Rover product to be launched was the Rover SD1 (Specialist Division No.1) in 1976, The ongoing commercial success of the original Land Rover series models and the Range Rover in the 1970s, in the midst of BL's well-documented business troubles, prompted the establishment of a separate Land Rover company under the BL umbrella. On 31 January 1994, Rover Group plc, including Land Rover, was acquired by BMW. In 2000, Rover Group was broken up by BMW and Land Rover was sold on to Ford Motor Company, On 11 June 2007, Ford announced that it planned to sell Land Rover along with Jaguar Cars. On 1 January 2008, Ford formally declared that Tata was the preferred bidder, with the sale finalised in March 2008. Tata Group, established Jaguar Land Rover Limited as a British-registered and wholly owned subsidiary.

Little Max wants to fly across the menacing skies when he grows up. He was sitting on his dad's shoulder, staring at the UH-60 Blackhawk, US Army’s utility tactical transport helicopter that took off from MIT's Briggs field during the 150th celebration. Although I could not look int Max's eyes, I knew exactly what he was thinking!

On April 30, 2011 MIT celebrated her 150th birthday through an institute wide open house. This was the first campus wide open house in over thirty years, and we estimated an attendance around thirty thousands. Through hundreds of fun and fascinating activities, the day showcased exciting new developments in robotics, energy, sustainability, entrepreneurship, arts and music, campus life and beyond. As a class of 2011 (150th class), I fell extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience these remarkable celebrations; celebration of innovation and human curiosity.
I would not exaggerate when I say in my fours years of college life I have never seen so much life and vibrance in campus. In the spirit of the celebrations, I took the day off, kissed goodbye to my already delayed problem sets and went out to capture some glimpses of this remarkable day. Not sure how successful I've been at capturing the essence of the day, but I am making a series from whatever I could shoot. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Back in the late 70's not even 20 years old, I started working for this company. It was known as "American Telephone & Telegraph" back then. Unbelievable how this company re-emerged as a leader in the telecommunications industry after the government forced it breakup their monopoly. {Random Thought 10.30.24}

The SII and the SIIA are very difficult to distinguish. There were some minor cosmetic changes, but the most significant change was under the bonnet in the guise of the new 2.25-litre Diesel engine. Body configurations available from the factory ranged from short-wheelbase (88 inch) soft-top to the top-of-the-line five-door LWB (109 inch) station wagon
From February 1969 (home market), the headlamps moved into the wings on all models, and the sill panels were redesigned to be shallower a few months afterwards.

traffic congestion is fun when you are not in it. it is common in the philippines for passengers to sit or stand on the entrance steps during peak hour traffic. they still pay the normal fare which is about 20 US cents for 5kms

For all friends and visitors regularly looking at my site, a new load old slides arrived from Europe were they are waiting for the day something to be done with others than a certain decay. This is Antwerp in the sixties with an extra ordinary tram transport clearly taken in overexposure and should have been removed while looking at the harvest after the slide film came back from the lab but I didn't. And now with the joy and toys of the digital ages it can be turned into art. Like it or not, a yesteryear scene and unrepeatable.
