I took this photo in Utah at a rest stop on I 70. One to the beautiful drives in the US IMO.

An empty Utah Railway empty coal train destined for home rails at Martin Yard is seen passing under the classic Rio Grande era signal bridge as they are about to swing through the turnouts at aptly named Utah Railway Junction at MP 628.8 on the modern day Union Pacific's Provo Sub, the one time Rio Grande Utah Division mainline.

Alas the signal bridge, the unit coal trains and the unique MK50-3s are all gone from this scene now. To learn more about this great railroad and these unique units check out the detailed caption with this earlier image: flic.kr/p/2kzfAF3

Recuerdo del recorrido por los Parques naturales del Estado de Utah.

Tuvimos la suerte de poderlo realizar en familia.

Taken on our last trip out west this was the sunset that greeted us on our first night in Utah.

80 years on.

I visited Utah beach with my parents in July 1982. My father served in the Royal Navy doing The Atlantic Crossings and elsewhere, but had wanted to visit one of the Normandy beaches. I found this photo to commemorate the 80th anniversary of The D-Day Landings. Taken by me with my Olympus Trip, (but retook the photo of it for today).

27 years later, in 2009, Graham and I went to Omaha Beach to do some research for work. Sadly, the long holiday weekend weather was appalling, and although we visited the beach and the cemetery, it was far too wet to take any nearly decent photos. We did manage to visit the museum, which was almost the saving grace.

We will always remember them.

Maybe view large, and thank you for your favourites. :)

Utah Railway 9012 is about to join the mainline at Utah Railway Junction for the climb to the top of Soldier Summit. The Utah coal trains were a fine addition to the Rio Grande trains on Soldier Summit. October 1997

There's not much to say here... just "Wow"!

This was taken at Canyonlands National Park in Utah in very late winter. It was quite warm in the sun, but you can see substantial snow on the mountains in the background. We only scratched the surface of what there is to see in Canyonlands. The views are otherworldly!

I will reiterate what I said in one of the comments - it is like summer meets winter in one shot!

Thank you for viewing!

Though we weren't able to find the "Fish Man" pictograph yesterday, but I did manage to get this shot of a moonrise at sunset in Professor Valley near Moab, Utah on the way home last evening. So all was not lost.
