1.16.22 - Sculpt progress on Star Wars: Dark Times (Dark Horse Comics) Dass Jennir and Falco Sang along with my first sculpt update on the "OG" bounty hunter, Skorr from the classic Marvel comic strip The Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell. All 1:18 scale.
Holidays are over, the decorations are stored, time to get back to work.
Sculpt progress on Dass Jennir. I finished the first set of variant forearms that are connected by the magnets seen in my last update. Strong attachments, as if they were jointed. The second variant will have the forearms wrapped as they appeared when Jennir rode his steed. I also worked on building up the chest sculpt a bit, adding a loosely fitted collar to the shirt. Added some more hair to the head sculpt and began working on a hood/head combo that will work independently from one another rather than being a single, static sculpt.
Also worked on Jenir's steed. The sculpt as seen here in the photos will need a complete rework with the exception of the head and horns. The entire body needs to be thinned out, the neck especially. The neck also needs to be elongated and the center articulation cut removed. I never liked that and it serves no purpose. I think the body is ok...just too thick, muscular. Nothing wrong with some definition but right now the body is looking too much like a Clydesdale.
Falco Sang progress. Started sculpting the upper body and arms of the figure. I'm not sure if the character's "sneaking suit" contained a texture? In the comics, it's a flat black. I took a little artistic license and added a subtle texture to the bodysuit. When painted, I think it will make the figure much more interesting to look at. Also sculpted one of the shoulder guards. Not sure how it will connect to the figure at this point. I'm looking at some clear or black elastic mini bands to go over the shoulder. I want a free range of movement, that's for certain. Finally, I worked a bit more on Falco's unmasked head sculpt. Sanding down the scalp and sculpting ears. I plan on sculpting his hair this week. I also need to begin working on his doid, Ize.
The true "OG" bounty hunter. Before Boba, there was Skorr - the Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell. You've seen the head sculpt before - I sculpted that back in 2011 I think? It needs a little work to bring it up to the standards I have now. Back then I was having issues learning to blend layers of epoxy at this scale. If you zoom in on this sculpt, you will see where layers ended and new layers began. Some simple sanding and resculpting will bring the head to sculpt up to date so expect a better look coming soon. The body is a dremeled down Spartan figure from Boss Fight. Nothing modded yet. I'm sure I will replace the neck joint and add more articulation but this will be the frame of choice. Gathered all the source images I could find so I hope to begin having better updates for you all in the immediate future.
Bonus! I'll be sculpting his sidekick "Gribbet" who is a Rybet bounty hunter and whose species ironically appears in the Dark Horse series! I've included a panel image showing the creature standing near Dass Jennir.

War Years Remembered is not a state-run museum. Due to the various lock-downs over the past year the museum has suffered greatly, with almost all of our annual income lost. All through lock-down the team at War Years Remembered has continued to support anyone requiring research from documentary makers and authors to families and veterans, all for free.
Our long-term goal for War Years Remembered is to find a permanent home and seek accredited museum status. Our dream is to become a major attraction that will provide an enjoyable, interesting and educational experience to all who visit.
We are fighting to survive the Covid-19 pandemic but we need your help. To survive and remain in our present location, we currently need to raise £50,000. With this money we can continue our vital work in remembering our veterans and the collection will be preserved for the education of future generations.
We were inspired by our late veteran 'Captain Tom' and our younger volunteers came up with the idea to walk 'in the footsteps of heroes'. So, over the coming weeks we will be using treadmills to walk 602 miles, the distance from our museum in Ballyclare to the beaches of Normandy, a journey undertaken by so many young men and women who fought in the Second World War. We will be posting regular updates on our progress and we hope you enjoy watching our journey.
Please give what you can, please help save War Years Remembered.
Update: Sold Caleb's head. Didn't end up selling his body and now have new plans for it! Made some pants for the poor naked body. He currently has no head so I cheated a little and stuck Emma's sleeping head on the body to try to some poses. They pose so well together! I have new plans for a migidoll head to go on this body, but I have to have money for that first haha.
DECENTRALIZED WORLD-WIDE NETWORKER CONGRESS 2012
ON NOVEMBER 3, 2012 IN PONTE NOSSA (PROVINCE BERGAMO, ITALY) IN THE LOCAL ART-STUDIO MORANDI WAS HELD DISCUSSION ON THE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS OF THE DECENTRALIZED NETWORKER CONGRESS 2012 WHICH SUMMARIZED THE FINDINGS:
(1) RENEWAL AND DEVELOPMENT. Participants Decentralized World-Wide Networker Congress 2012 believe that the mail art network can and should be updated periodically to reflect the sensitivity of his age, especially in relation with the continuous renewal of the media. The slowness and cost of postal communication on the one hand, and the dizzying acceleration of economic, social and political changes on the other, accompanied by increasingly complex interactions on a global scale, the need arise, even in relationships and exchanges between mail artists of intensive use, although not exclusive, the Internet in the variety of tools available, launching projects via the Internet or at least to double entry: by mail and via the Internet. The utility of the use of the internet we had a test in joyful meetings and conversations via Skype, and the rain of images and messages on social networks in the period of the Congress.
We hope that will be realized in the near future new projects networker congress, but not centralized on a few sites and promoters of the collection, but really widespread and decentralized, according to the unforgettable experience of the meetings in 1992. To achieve this goal will require a programmatic work of preparation which will be attended throughout the network, in view of the implementation period of the program at least one year.
(2) EFFECTIVE GLOBALISATION Of MAILART. The intensive use of the Internet will make possible an effective and concrete globalization of mailart, closer relations between mail artists based on direct knowledge of the economic, political cultural contexts, projects adapted to the situation, the resumption of mailartistic campaigns for peace, against hunger, torture, sexual and racial prejudice, the revival of a modern artistic creativity based on the "conscience of the world", even more necessary after the return to order of the avant-garde, fluxus and visual poetry included .
Of course, the intensive use of computers and the internet does not mean the mail art transformation into something new, like digital art or net art, not only because the mail will continue to exist alongside the communication via the Internet, but also because mail art has always refused as an art form of marking particular, leaving the flexibility to mail artists to use all possible techniques of expression , as long as share ideal principles that have made glorious in its first fifty years.
(3) THE PROBLEM OF PERSONAL ARCHIVES. Some participants raised the issue of the allocation of personal archives that are already beginning to overflow. As a "personal", archives have a value above all emotional: they belong, it is true, the history of mailart, but most of our history. Create museums mailart in competition with art museums, or establish, within art museums, a section mailart, solutions are alien to the tradition and spirit of mailart, which could pave the way for confusion and competition in the same community mailartistic, and essentially the surrender of mailart to the art system with its strict laws. In the futuristic looks rather interesting proposal Honoria Starbuck a network of digital archives that would be like a huge garden in the ether, where each of us was its location, and glorification, where it would be possible to listen to the voice of every mailartist dead, see his animated figure, read his writings, see the projects.
(4) “MAIL ART ENTERS INTO LIFE!” (Creativa 2011). While the nations of the world sink into the abyss of their economies devastated by corrupt political elites and foolish speculations, that you want to charge as usual to the poorest classes and young people left without prospects for the future, mailart continues to pose in his small, as a society "other" than large society, a "different" than the art system, a factor of resistance and civil development. Exist as long as mail art, exist for us a reference point to turn to, in reality, not utopia. In this sense we can say that the mail art is a wealth and power, to be protect and administered with care.

I haven't been updating recently. I've been pretty busy! I'm starting to take pictures for asking customers and what not. My confidence in my pictures is gradually growing, which is what I need right now. I'm getting to that comfort level with my photos with hopes of starting an "official small business" in the New Year.
Many more photos to come in 2011! I'll be hopefully getting a new camera for Christmas, so that will add to the flow of new photos. I'm heading to Greece and Italy in March and maybe Arizona in April. And in the summer I'll be spending three weeks in NYC at an SVA Pre-College program for Digital Photography! I'm looking forward to 2011, it's going to be a good year for my pictures and my future.

Typical me, I have no "before" shot of this. I received this rocker for Christmas back in 1976 and it was much loved and used throughout my childhood. I intended on refinishing it for my son (7 years ago) but never did. Originally, the wood was dark brown and the fabric was brown, tan, yellow, and red, with a 1776 theme of flags, and the Liberty Bell.
I updated it with this gorgeous aqua "oops" paint I found at Lowe's and I made the pillows out of leftover poly fil, a felted wool sweater, and a bed skirt that I no longer used.
My daughter loves it and my son has been using it too with a reminder that I never finished it for him ;).

and this was a few months ago, 26th March to be exact. Wonder why a guy would paint his face on a random day? It was because my school had a carnival so we basically had stalls, maze, and of course "scream park" (haunted house) :) This was taken in the "make-up room" where the "ghosts" dolled themselves up in there. It was really a day to remember, I had fun. There are more pictures but this is my personal favorite :)
