Gear Packed & Primed! Drove west from Kearney out to Lexington Nebraska area. Once the warnings started to fire out in West Central Nebraska. It was time to do my thing. It was to see one of the last supercells of the summer of 2023 & I wasn't gonna miss out. This truly had incredible, beautiful structure. No I didn't see a Tor-nader that day. I got a few snaps of what I think was a wall cloud to the cell northwest of my location.

I was there for the structure & I got those incredible snaps... It is what I came for!

*** PERSONAL NOTE***

I travel a lot of roads LESS TRAVELED than most in Nebraska due to what I do. After the Lexington Nebraska event.. I had to shoot back a few miles due my proximity to the storm.

As I traveled west then south from Overton Nebraska .. Via Nebraska Road "748" heading west. My normal spot was taken due to harvesting from the farmers. Cows were in my favorite spot. So a drove a few miles to the west. I had been by here about 1000+ times but never realized there there was an historical marker here.

So unknowingly, as I pulled into this little area with no power-lines I found a new place to take snaps but it has some historical value. Thought I would add this link for those of you that are curious about this Famous Nebraska Historical Marker.

The first in what will be a series of photos from my photoshoot experience at East Lancs Railway ..

This wasnt in the shoot , i arrived at Bury on friday pm , and as the light was fading , I knew there was time for me to try a shot from the Burrs Country Park .. Unknowing ,that if I had gone to the right of where im standing , there is a brand new station there on the line !

I have cropped this ,as too many caravans where in view which didnt add to the shot ! I think though I need to master my cloning techniques ..

All in all I had a really lovely couple of days there ,shame about the weather but it didnt stop me from getting some good atmospheric pictures :-)

On 23 August 2023, I unknowingly captured one of the last journeys of IC 2085 ‘Nebelhorn’ between Augsburg and Oberstdorf. A few days later, the signal box in Oberstdorf failed and the points to the sidings with the train preheating equipment can no longer be controlled. The repair seems to be so costly and time-consuming that the long-distance services have been completely cancelled including 2025. If at all, then the Talgo IC will come to the Allgäu in the distant future to provide a service for tourism again. At the Ruderatshofen weir, I was able to take a photo of the orient-red 218 406 of the Kempten depot, which has been perfectly restored to the condition of early Era V, in front of the IC 2085. In the last few weeks of operation, there was regularly a control car in the train set, but it was rarely used in push-pull operation.

This self-forgetful unknowing has for nearly two millennia attempted to speak of an intimacy with God that runs deeper than our words and concepts can reach. From the earliest centuries of Christianity there have been any number of names for the intimacy of this unknowing: the fire of the mind, the crest of the wave of the mind, the eye of the heart, the eye of the mind, the high point of the soul, and many others. They attempt to name the fullness of human knowing, natural to each and all.

-An Ocean of Light Contemplation, Transformation, and Liberation, Martin Laird, O.S.A.

There is an interesting bit of history that goes along with Yantic Falls: As the story goes, Miantonomo, sachem of the Narragansetts, led 900 of his warriors in what was to be a surprise attack on the Mohegans at Shetucket, the Mohegan capital. The night before the battle, Mohegan scouts in the area observed the advancing enemy and carried the intelligence back to Uncas who formed a plan.

Uncas knew he didn’t have enough warriors to battle Miantonomo but he was a brave chief and would die for his people if need be; if one man could save many then he was willing to make that sacrifice. He told his braves that he would ask Miantonomo to fight one-on-one and if Miantonomo refused, he would drop to the ground as a signal for them to fire arrows into the enemy and then charge them hoping that the surprise would give them the advantage against the higher numbers.

Chief Uncas met the Narragansett chief between the lines of battle in the area that is now known as East Great Plain and appealed to him to prevent blood loss between both tribes by a single combat between the two leaders instead. When Miantonomo contemptuously rejected Uncas’ proposal, the Mohegan chief immediately dropped to the ground and the Narragansetts were met with a hail of arrows before Chief Uncas jumped to his feet and led his brave warriors in a charge.

Caught totally off-guard, the Narragansetts ran from the charging Mohegans with some fleeing along their familiar route while others, unfamiliar with the territory, unknowingly reached the high treacherous cliffs of Yantic Falls . Rather than surrender, Miantonomo leapt across the gorge and managed to land on the other side, injuring his leg in the process. Others of his tribe attempted to leap the chasm but were unsuccessful and plunged to their death onto the rocks in the abyss below while others simply surrendered and became prisoners of the Mohegans.

When the pursuing Uncas arrived at the top of the gorge and saw his enemy hobbling away on the other side, he took a running start, flew over the rapids, and landed safely on the other side. It was an astounding leap that gave the area above the falls its future name and allowed Uncas to catch up to the injured Miantonomo who was then easily overcome and taken as prisoner.

Exiled from your village on false charges, unknowingly ending up in the Eleventh Nome, the realm of the trickster god Seth. Having no food nor water, your vision blurs and mirages appear and fade rather often.

You stumble upon a very odd sight.. mirrors impaled into the dune and a troop of elephants marching along. Though the strangest sights was this beauty among them, one hand holding a stake-shaped dagger with the other holding a mysterious, pulsating red orb. She'd tilt her head to the side and offer out the throbbing crimson marble toward you with the hand holding the dagger brandishing it rather poignantly with only a singular word: "Choose."

If you decide to test your luck for a painful salvation, you can take the quaking Meteora Core until May 18th, or if you truly wish to resign yourself to a swift, painful death then her sharp Pandora Dagger.

I normally save all my images to one card in my camera and use the second for overflow, which rarely gets used. Obviously I took some shots while my primary card was unknowingly out of my camera, because I recently found some images on the back-up card, and this was one of them. A nice surprise!

1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Sedan.

Just another example of how some auto manufacturers were hiding the gas filler to keep their cars slick and smooth. Some others are the 56 and 57 Chevrolet Bel Air, the 41 & 52 Caddys and the 1948 Tucker which hid theirs behind a louvered trim panel door on the front of the rear fender. Must have drove some of the unknowing gas jockys crazy ;-))

🎶 LAKE ISABEL - CROSSING PATHS

“Every so often in life, you randomly cross paths with someone that touches you in a way that you really can't explain, but somehow you know that you will never be the same again. A person that is unknowingly, so incredibly beautiful, both inside and out, that they take your breath away. Recently, I met someone exactly like that. As a matter of fact, I'm still not convinced that she isn't an angel here to protect me from myself and the rest of you crazies... these next few songs are for my angel. I hope the rest of you find your angel someday. Just remember, don't let go when you do, even if they try to fly away.”

Street photography from a small town in England. Captured in April 2017 while on my way to visit my father in hospital during the last weeks of his life.

This man clearly wears his political affiliations on his chest. "Don't let Europe Rule Britannia", "Bollocks to Europe" and "English and Proud" pin badges leave no room for ambiguity.

So if Russia plays the long game, wants to destabilise western democracies and sow division, would it want Brexit? Follow the threads, follow the names, follow the money. The evidence is out there and although not conclusively proven, if you dig deep enough into the root of so many of our modern ills - Russian money is at the heart of it. Is a Brexit voter an unknowing Russian asset?

I know some of you hate me getting political in my comments but there is so much evidence that the west has been well and truly played by Russia that it would be remiss to ignore it. This has been going on for years.

The evidence is out there. Follow the threads. Follow the names. Follow the money.

When asked, “Why Costa Rica” the answer is two-fold and simple…different species and if you want the possibility of getting photos like in National Geographic Magazine, you have to go where they go! The fact that it was below zero at home much of the time that we were concerned with proper sun screen coverage was defiantly a plus as well!

From the moment we landed in San Jose, I immediately went into camera mode…scanning the sky, trees, ground, between homes…on a 360-degree rotation. I often wonder if my head movements while in photo mode remind others of a circular yard sprinkler on a summer’s morning. As we left the city heading out for a 45-minute ride to our first hotel in La Paz, our change in elevation was noted by all.

Our driver did a fantastic job of pointing out different aspects of the Costa Rican countryside and culture. At one point we came across a hillside coffee plantation where we stopped on the roadside, gathered up some of the ripe red beans and ate the fruit (Very tasty) that surrounds the seed inside that later will be roasted to make coffee. We got back into the van and resumed our adventure.

I truly thought that the first highlight of this trip would be based in capturing wildlife…however it occurred as we rounded the very next bend in the road and came face to face with the Starbucks Coffee processing plant. Even though our troop only consumed 4-5 beans, I take GREAT PRIDE in my participation in the roadside theft, unknowingly sticking it to the man!

Arriving at our hotel in La Paz I stood on the balcony of the reception area and looked over the valley below in amazement. Then a very pale, bluish gray bird passed just below the railing…finally an exotic, new to this kid species! The sight of anything new…especially something in the animal kingdom thrills me to my core. In this case, a Blue-Gray Tanager (often called blueberries locally) was my first noted exotic seen. Little did I know that at breakfast the next morning that they would be landing on our table and eating from my hand!

To the wait staff at the hotel and the local population, I am sure that they are seen as a nuisance. But when something falls squarely in my “Never have I ever” category, they become a treasure to be captured.

Adventure before dementia!

The sculpture raises awareness of the plight of refugees and immigrants. The title 'Angels Unawares' no doubt alludes to the need for hospitality as highlighted at Hebrews 13:2 that in turn alludes to the time Abraham unknowingly provided hospitality to angels who were disguised as men.

We went shopping in San Francisco's Chinatown, and unknowingly bumped into the Chinatown Autumn Moon Festival. Grant Ave, the main street of Chinatown was most off-limits for cars, and was a very busy place.

After posting a shot with Worthing pier in it yesterday I thought I would post another in totally different conditions.

A high tide sunset with waves coming in can be a tricky game sometimes along this beach as there are some steeply shelving banks of shingle to catch out the unknowing.

Here I was taking shots as I was heading towards the pier between the sets of Wooden groynes, the sun was now behind the bank of cloud but still giving me some lovely colour.

I did not want a long exposure to take away all the detail of the sea but just enough to capture the flow back from a receding wave, you have to be smart on the remote button at the right time.

Anther wet and windy day here , got a soaking on a walk first thing and looks like it will be wet around sunset time again not that a sunset looks likely again today.

Just back from an entertaining 12 days round trip of Iceland in a Camper van with 3 other snappers; we were still talking at the end ! Though I'm seeing fleeting images of a man in black following me with a gun since I've been back.

This is my introductory image summing up the expanse and cool blueness of the area. Neil unknowingly provided the scale for this pano. One of hundreds of shots taken needing severe editing.

Thought cannot comprehend God. And so, I prefer to abandon all I can know, choosing rather to love him whom I cannot know. Though we cannot fully know him, we can love him.

Here is my favourite mug! The original was chipped and I had to throw it out, but fortunately my sister gave me an identical one, unknowingly, for Easter, lol!

This is for dear Cindy, who lives across the world in NZ! We decided to take a photo at exactly the same time - 8am here, 7pm there! What fun! Hugs Cindy, and cheers! :~}

Here is Cindy's mug (and kettle!) shot!

I chickened out of putting my kettle on as it needs cleaning, but I have already got a pic of my kettle!

I came across another hawk when I unknowingly crossed its territory. Here's a few photos of it swooping as it ensures I'm on my way. You can see a bit of the last meal spread across its face as it's almost in the lens.

A classic 1960's built motel in Muskegon Michigan. A very strange and interesting place where tourists to the area seeking Lake Michigans beautiful shoreline communities unknowingly mingle with transients, shady characters and others down on their luck utilizing the hotel as a temporary home.

Happy Caturday everyone.....Obby is food driven. And will unknowingly will jump up on the table and swipe a paw full of what I'm eating. This happened this morning. Tenacious.

The single result of an epic failure in an attempt to shoot Norfolk Southern's daylight Sunday H-66, the sole train on the Upper Lehigh Line between Allentown and Lehighton, PA.

After photographing the Reading and Northern's F units running north with the OCS at Glen Onoko, we started east, unknowingly passing the westbound run somewhere. After hours of driving around on a wild goose chase, we finally found the H-66 coming east.. with a single SD40E running light engine back towards Allentown.

While this was a major disappointment, we at least glassed a shot of SD40E 6303 going away from the old Mauser Mill at Treichlers, PA. Still not as sad as what this line used to host vs. what its become in the past half decade, with the loss of Canadian Pacific run-through trains and NS abolishing the 36/37T road freights.

Are you brave enough to discover?

A world you have never seen before. Sounds cliche and I am certain they will convince you otherwise. However, perhaps you should maybe try because why not? It might be a world YOU have never seen before that many already have. Different set of shiny eyes gazing around an unfamiliar set of norms, cultural shocks, color palette and smiles.

Aren't all smiles the same?

How do you know? Is the eyes smiling too? Is the cheek joining in? Is the entire body language matching with the smile? Did you feel like smiling back so strongly or were you shy?

But what if smiling back will make me look like a creep?

This is why all smiles are different, some smiles touch you and make you smile back unknowingly, like every blood nerve in your body was in sync to smile back and yet some smiles leave you in doubt while others even annoy you.

Only some smiles truly touch you. Even if there is no smile in the first place. ;)

P.S. Super in love with the frames that is part of Imagine Set by 8f8.

A planned fall foliage trip to Oregon had to be scrapped recently, hence this shot from last year. There aren't many things higher on my list of fun activities than photographing waterfalls. Tim, probably somewhat unknowingly, posed as the hunter.

Thanks for looking!

Incubus and Succubus: In medieval lore, a succubus was a female spirit that would lay with men to steal their seed: it was given as an explanation of night arrousal and wet dreams. It was also paired with the incubus, the male form, sometimes transforming between the two forms to pass along the stolen seed to unknowing women. In later stories, especially in contemporary horror writing, both would be given hypnotic powers that would give them the ability to command and compell members of the opposite sex.

For nearly a year feral Little Cat hung around our house. One day I was able to capture a shot of her as she unknowingly came into camera view. That photo of her is in my Explore album if interested. She then disappeared for awhile and eventually returned with her kitten.

This portrait is of that kitten, now a young adult. He took up residence on my front porch where he wintered inside a large, insulated plastic storage box. True to his feral nature, he keeps me at arm’s length but will come when I whistle for him.

We have though, made a deal…he keeps the chipmunks, mice and voles in check and I provide fresh water and dinner along with the occasional piece of cheese.

I’ve decided to call him Buddy. So far so good.

Remembrance day. I am not a fan of the narratives of the 20th century wars of who was on the side of justice and truth and who was not, there is much to say about that. But not here. I do respect the fact that many many innocent and unknowing people suffered the horrors of war and ultimately death,it is not something to be unnoticed or ignored but should be soberly considered

Generally I give icicles a wide berth. Fascinating as they are to observe, they are actually quite dangerous to interact with. They appear almost medieval, like icy daggers poised to impale the unwary. Thick at the top, they taper down to delicate pointed tips, extremely fragile and prone to breakage. We used to knock them down as kids, pelting them with snowballs or whacking them with sticks. This always brought up mention of some poor kid who put out his eye after getting pierced with a falling ice shard. Don't know if that actually happened or was just a story told by parents as a caution to children. But like any good myth, it seemed plausible. Even if the ice didn't break the skin, you were very likely to suffer blunt force trauma if struck by the meaty part of the icicle. I still see people out flailing away at icicles. Mostly now it's homeowners attempting to alleviate the extreme weight of the ice as it distorts their rain gutters. Amazing thing about icicles is that they start with a single drop of water. The accretion builds over time like stalactites from a cave ceiling. Most of us unknowingly manufacture our own icicles with our furnaces supplying a steady flow of warm air up through uninsulated attics. Somewhat ironic in the sense that icicles actually cost money to produce.

I came upon these icicles one sunny morning back in January. I snapped a few uninspired photos; yet another scene that looked way cooler to my eye than in the photo. About to walk off, I suddenly realized the way to shoot this scene was with backlight. I stepped gingerly beneath the icicles as my mind flashed back to the one-eyed kid. I reached the comparative safety of the building wall, and pressed my back against it to increase my buffer zone. The icicles dangled right in front of my face, absolutely dazzling in the brilliant sun. My parents would have been furious, but I got the shot.

Based on recent successes by other locals (thanks Will R. and Mike R.), I un-apologetically decided to get off my lazy butt and check out the "other" local St. Louis shortline. I unknowingly passed this short train while maintaining a steady 25mph through the suburbs of Chesterfield, MO. While driving out past Missouri American Water, I just happened to look back and see a freight car disappearing into the woods. A chase ensued, resulting in this less than optimum back-lit shot, as is my custom. Location self-explanatory.

Others in similar situations were not so fortunate as I.

Hope folks are doing well this summer and getting through the covid as best they can. The heat's starting to get a bit oppressive, but thank goodness for A/C. I've made it out a couple of evenings recently to the Draper Wildlife Management sunflower site...and I quickly remembered how frustrating it can be shooting in that sun, dripping with sweat, swatting away bugs and waiting for the light to get a bit better. All that said, it was still good to get out and shoot a bit. The first trip wasn't very successful as I let the frustration get to me. I happened to be shooting and unknowingly hit Lock button/slider on my camera and couldn't change my exposure compensation. That was the final tipping point and I headed home early. Of course on my way home, I figured I had to have hit that button that I'd never knocked in 7 years. The second trip was a bit more successful as I was able to capture this image that I ilked. There's something about shooting into that hazy, evening sunlight that appeals to me. It also didn't help that the wide-angle shot wasn't possible, as the spot where I'd picked from the past trip...the sunflowers had died off. Anyway....I do hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer....and have a great weekend!

The sun was low when we left the Death Valley. The sun cast nice shadows on the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, when we took shots from a distance with a long lens. Two people posted for us unknowingly and serendipitously.

Zoom in at you own risk. She's covered in lint!!

I've been busy a couple of days, photographing all the faces of my Hasbro Sindy dolls, trying to figure out who's who and how many duplicates I've managed to collect unknowingly.
