SOFTLY - SOFTLY approach is my normal tactic on seeing some thing special, but in the opposite direction I could see a cyclist approaching, and I was 150 mrts away, so took a record shot, and then ran towards it, luckily the raptor did not want to loose its pigeon meal. Managed to fire off several shots, before the cyclist unknowingly spooked the bird, and flew off with its meal. As you can see late in 2013 I had purchased a second hand Canon 7D and EF400mm, f4 DO IS USM lens, which was far Superior to my previous set up. NOW there was no stopping me, and I still happily have the same lens.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP, it means a lot, and more in these difficult times, as many country's around the world lift some restrictions , I hope and pray this is not too much too soon.
Enjoy the Lords day, God bless and keep you safe in what ever you do............................Tomx.
The forecast was good, so yesterday I slipped over to Calke, hoping to see a few winter visitors up close.
This lovely little chap was a welcome sight, but played a bit hard to get, rarely venturing into the open, between skulking in the twiggery and dropping on to the feeders. He did pop up in the open late on, when the light was fading and I managed a few tolerable shots. This, despite the lens VR having accidentally and unknowingly switched off; after my lens hood fell off, rolled down the slope in front of the hide and had to be retrieved, to the accompaniment of much swearing...
Thank you for your faves and comments - much appreciated!

This is what happens to the little vase of pink Cyclamen more than a month ago.
It was too hot here, and we did not know that two watering in a day was enough to make the flowers falling down and the roots to rot.
Fortunately I took some photos before the plant definitely died.
This is the first image.
Wish all my Flickr friends a very happy week ahead!
Please, excuse me for not being able to answer the numerous faves and comments in my last two photos on Explore, with a lot of visualizations. I really don't know if I will be capable of this tiresome work this time.
I also need to make a require to unknowing people who usually return to my gallery and add as favorites 25 or even 100 photos. Sorry, but I don't have time nor physical disposition to reciprocrate all of this.
So, please don't do this.

Rest hope you all enjoy amsy work as always ^^

As the evening sun was setting, I spotted this female Barred Owl perched & keeping an eye on her two owlets.
Though I didn't notice, my wife said something fell out of her mouth just after I took this shot.
Would've been cool to have unknowingly caught that action.....but obviously I was about a second too quick on the trigger.....
Funny how sometimes you catch unsuspecting objects and actions in your photos......but can also barely miss the same......
Thanks for taking a look.
Your comments are what keeps me behind the camera......
Happy Friday & may you all have a wonderful weekend !

Since I was not able to hike this weekend and the weather is stormy today, I thought I would post a sunset from a couple months ago.
[**Note: I did not enhance or change the colors in these photos at all - everything really was pink!]
As someone who has been obsessed with sunsets since I was a child, I have watched some untold number of them over the years, and photographed many. But once in awhile there still comes a sunset that is like nothing I have seen before. This remarkable evening in Cannon Beach this summer was one of those.
As mentioned in the previously posted “Golden Gift”, the last day there was foggy and I wasn’t sure if there would be a sunset to see, but late in the afternoon some rays of sunshine broke through the clouds and turned everything to gold.
The clouds returned after that golden moment, but as it approached the time for sunset, something extraordinary happened. The sun turned pink! And then the sky and waves did too. I was completely transfixed by the jaw-dropping sight of it all. It was so striking that I’m posting multiple images because it feels like the only way to really convey the entirety of the moment.
And like the physical light of a sublime sunset that suddenly bursts through the clouds, sometimes a similar metaphorical light appears in one’s life. Perchance in the form of an unexpected friendship that one didn’t know was needed, but has now become a cherished gift. A friendship that illuminates the shadows to which one had grown so accustomed that their presence was no longer noticed. As one’s eyes adjust to the dark when light fades and dusk falls, so it happens with life as well. Until a friend, perhaps unknowingly on their part, extends the steady glow of warmth and light that sparks a heartfelt song of luminescent joy.
So this post is dedicated, with much gratitude, to that special glow of incandescent friends :-)
I feel you inside me, a stabbing unwinding
And somehow I'm certain, no questions, no lying
You shan't be so frightened, my hands you are carried
And softly reminded it's fate that's behind
A kingdom awaits you, a master obeys you
Be still and be quiet, your heart will not silence
I nurture your touch and your tongue and your violence
You're tender, my firmness, my fire, my kindness
A taste of your softness, I fill you with wanting
A comfort, a warmth of a love ever growing
We're tearing away the resistance we scatter
The fear of unknowing we shun ever after

Explanation:
This English(!) text is a victim of the Chinese sense of order:
Everything must be sorted and arranged accordingly, big to small, front to back...
Front to back - this is the explanation.
We are looking at the right side of a bus belonging to "Ruijin Passenger Travel".
Now, everything must be "front to back", also the writing on a busses side, this means the text on the right side of a bus must be read right to left (= front to back)!.
Therefore 旅游客运 (Lüyou keyun = tourism passenger transport) becomes 运客游旅 and RUIJIN PASSENGER TRAVEL becomes LEVART REGNESSAP NIJIUR.
This may work for Chinese readers who know and expect that, but the unknowing English language reader sees just letter salad...
Spotted on Ruijin 2nd Road (瑞金二路), near the entrance to the InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin (上海瑞金洲际酒店), formerly also known as Ruijin Guesthouse.

Hmmm...I wonder how true that is. Long ago..probably true. Nowadays...who knows? Yes, bugs could be pesky, but we don't realize how important some are. Like this little bumblebee, busy collecting pollen, unknowingly pollinating this female pumpkin flower. The bees and other bugs do a fantastic job pollinating every year...I even get some pretty fascinating cross-pollinated pumpkins and gourds. Only rarely is there a slow morning insect-wise that gets me to go out and hand-pollinate.
Time to go catch up! Have a wonderful Wednesday, my friends!

Its good to be here (again :-)
My second attempt at shooting the milkyway, it was sooo dark, but really struggled for some foreground interest. Just as i'd given up and e were walking back to our room i noticed this tree. It was a fairly long exposure and i got our guide to unknowingly do a little bit of light paining, probably slightly too much, but i cant complain.
The mind can be our biggest prison. Oh how I love to prove them wrong. It is the only endless space where anyone can be truly free. No judgment, no contradiction and most of all, no one telling you constantly you are wrong.
One day, bravery manages to engulf your 'freedom' and somehow it feels a little safer to allow certain chosen ones to peek within. This union feels surreal because they also allow you to take a view hoping you like what you see.
Unknowingly, you both get tossed with multiple coins with two sides. Good and bad. Reality and fantasy. Right and wrong. Fear and hope.
As if that wasn't enough, the coins brings you to open mazes that lead to a series of memories, tragedy, creativity, passion and dreams.
The hardest part is to swim across the oceans of loss, broken relationships, failed friendships and rejection.
It was not a pleasant journey, sometimes both won't end up at the finish line. Only one would remain and the other would have given up or perhaps both just didn't feel the need to continue. Other paths seemed easier to pursue...
If you reach the end, still hand and hand, with that same aim and drive to conquer the freedom of your minds. Able to accept each others differences, not necessarily loving some traits but willing to tolerate them enough because you can't imagine your life without them. Most of all when you feel that you are free not just within your mind but also out of it.
Those are the people you don't let go...
P.S. Today was a memorable day. :3
Also special big Thank You to Natty for offering your beautiful garden. She took a beautiful photo of this garden with more view here.

Three strong oxen were living in the bush. one red, white and black. One day a lion came upon them and wondered how he might eat the three oxen. The lion realized that he could not attack all the three oxen at the same time . He made a plan to divide them and eat them one by one.
The lion came to the red & black oxen and told them that the white ox was spoiling the bush where they lived. He suggested that the white ox should be killed in order to save the environment. Unknowingly the two oxen thought that the lion was right and allowed him to kill and eat the white ox.
After few days, the lion again came to the red ox and told him that the black ox was arrogant and was intending to kill him (the red ox). The lion suggested that he should protect the life of the red ox by killing the black ox. The red ox agreed the lion’s plan and killed the black ox.
After few days the lion came to the red ox and said, “It is now your time to die.”
The red ox now understood the planned trick of the lion, but was powerless .
The red ox said to the lion,
“You killed me when you killed the white ox.”
I stopped here to photograph what you see, but also another shot to my right (which you'll see eventually and likely unknowingly). While in the middle of the first exposure, a pick up truck drove towards me down this road.
When he reached me, the exposure was over and he asked if I was having a good day and taking a lot of photos. I told this older rancher that it was one of the most beautiful days I've experienced here, what with all of the wildflowers. He agreed and told me to have fun.
He was the only person I spoke to that day. I get stopped almost every time I'm out in this area. It's very sparsely peopled, but those who live there keep a very close watch over everything. If you're out there, chances are you've been seen and will eventually be approached.
I don't mind this as I've never had a bad interaction despite it being painfully obvious that I'm probably from Seattle. When I confirm this, there's often an eye roll or at least disappointment. I understand this as well.
Since he was in my first shot, I took a second, which you are looking at right now.

When I open my eyes, I can't believe it
How the world can look so different than we were dreamin'
It's gettin' harder to say I'm undefeated
When the best my heart can hope for is breakin' even
Here and now, reachin' out
In my hurt, I don't know how
But I know I'm not alone
I can face my darkest night
'Cause I trust you with my life
I'm not afraid for you are my refuge
When it's heavy on my chest
You're the place I catch my breath
You are the only one I hold onto
Oh, 'cause you are my refuge
I know how this ends
I'm gonna make it
Your word is in my heart
None could ever take it
Here and now, hear us out
Come and fill me with your power
Let me know I'm not alone
I can face my darkest night
'Cause I trust you with my life
I'm not afraid for you are my refuge
When it's heavy on my chest
You're the place I catch my breath
You are the only one I hold onto
Every day and darkest night
I trust you at all times
I'm not afraid for you are my refuge
And when I've got nothin' left
You're the place I find my rest
You are the only one that I run to
Yes, you are my refuge
You're my rest, you're my rock, you're my fortress
You're my strength, you're my shield and you're my defense
Nothing could ever take me from you
Nothin's ever gonna take me from you
I can face my darkest night
'Cause I trust you with my life
I'm not afraid for you are my refuge
When it's heavy on my chest
You're the place I catch my breath
You are the only one I hold onto
Every day and darkest night
I trust you at all times
I'm not afraid for you are my refuge
And when I've got nothin' left
You're the place I find my rest

An angel and demon’s forbidden love
A angel and a demon fall madly in love but they are forbidden to love one another. The demon is sent to kill an angel but cannot because he falls in love with her. The angel does not yet know he is a demon. Unknowingly, she falls in love with him, the demon not knowing why he was sent to kill her. He soon finds out she is the most powerful angel on earth and can wipe out the demon population and kill his master, the devil himself. The master finds out that his demon betrayed him and sends a band of demons to kill them both. The angel finds out that her true love is a demon and that the demons are after them. But not caring that her love is a demon, she stays and prepares for battle. God gives the demon a choice: he can keep his new love safe and become a angel once more, or accept an offer from the devil to kill her and become the most powerful demon on earth. If the demon choses to become an angel, he will not be able to protect his love from the band of demons. If he stays a demon, god will send angels to kill him. They both prepare for the fight of their forbidden love
One second the water slid smoothly and silently, unknowing. The next, plunging fragmented to turmoil.

The trees communicate in terpenes and other volitiles only detectable with special instruments (though we also can sometimes smell the forest).
The trees are neurons in a cortex. When we walk in the woods, we are traveling through a brain, and maybe also through a mind, of sorts. What emergent properties does a stand of trees have? The trees collective thoughts are completely foreign to us.
Their conversation is mostly undetectable and very sedate to creatures that run at roughly human clock speeds. No need to be hasty.
Trees absorb sheaves of solar rays too. Many of them are also invisible until they enter the lens of a camera without its hot mirror filter. Because the camera doesn't know which light should be visible to us, it records all the photons that hit it sensor as red, green, or blue. And in this way, through technological unknowing, we obtain knowledge of the unseen.
This follows the pattern of our general experience of life. First, even the plain things going on all around us take time and sometimes extra effort to even start to observe — let alone fully understand.
Second, it is only by moving through a phase of ignorance that we can allow even what is brilliantly illuminated to enter our awareness.
The truth is not just out there, it is everywhere.

so I went to check my Flickr account after a year of being away from SecondLife and found out that I had lost my original account
I created a new one and even added all the pictures that I unknowingly deleted the last time as well while trying to clear the pictures in my autouploadr when Flickr implemented the 1000 max policy for the free account.
Cheers to the new account + please do take care all around the world as we fight this virus by keeping our hygiene up!

Obrien’s Hut, Kosciuszko National Park
We had left Lake Hume early after our previous nights astro shoot and set out to find this hut located high in Kosciuszko National Park. After a few hours we had managed to find it and settled on the fact that it’d be a sunrise location so before settling in for the night we took off down the mountain to check out Old Adaminaby and Anglers Reach for any potential future astro comps.
With a few hours left before sunset we were back at the hut and setting up our tents. I checked the forecast and it looked as though there was heavy cloud heading our way overnight, perfect for sunrise. What I didn’t look for was what else was coming with the cloud…
We were woken around midnight to strong winds battering down on our tents. A quick check of the radar showed that there was a storm right on us. I unzipped my tent only to see a perfectly starry sky – no storm??
The next morning and the promised heavy cloud was nowhere to be seen. No storm, no cloud.
An hour later after finishing the shoot and making our way down the mountain we rounded a corner to see something utterly mind blowing, a storm cell, below us. Little had we known but the previous night we had unknowingly camped directly above a storm – all we had were the residual winds and cold temps from above. I guess that’s alpine camping for you.
I’ll share a video of the storm from above for you all soon but take my word for it – it was cool to see!
Anyway, it’s Australia Day today so I’m about to fire up the BBQ and share a few drinks with friends but I thought that today would be a good day to share an image of this classic High Country Australian hut first.
Have a great Australia friends and as always, thanks for looking!

One of the great mysteries of the contemplative path is the discovery that, when the veils of separation drop, we see that the God we have been seeking has already found us, knows us, and sustains us in being from all eternity. Indeed, “God is your being,” as the author of the Cloud of Unknowing says (though we are not God’s being).
