Kusudama Bouquet Book 5
My cat likes the lamps.
Two Twister lamps with a slight difference in unit folding. Each made of 30 units of 6-inch vellum paper.
The picture is not the greatest, I'm still thinking about how to make pro-pictures of the lamps...

I've just received the copy of Tanteidan 22 convention book. There's a diagram of my Secret Flower model there. With the pictures made by Tanya Turova flic.kr/p/e1MYwT
For those who don't have Tanteidan 22 book, you can find the same diagram in my "Modular Origami Kaleidoscope" book. www.amazon.com/dp/0997311940
This is Tiger. It's the sister model of Tigra, don't be surprised. It has
slightly less sharp angles but it's still nice. I prefer dodecahedral
assembly with this one, since it shows all the beauty ;)

I've always been asked what is my most complicated model. That's the incorrect question. Complex in what? In folding? If your model is complex in folding, then you probably did a bad origami model. Complex in consumed time? Well, again it might be better to design easier thing that would look the same. Complex to design? I've seen people spending hours to design something that came out over-complicated and time-consuming. At the same time some easy models are awesome...
I would change this question to the one "what model are you proud of?". It is valid question. It is not complex in folding (may be a bit complex in assembly if you do not crease well, but, well, crease well!), not to much time consuming and did not take me long to design it. But I am proud of this model ;)
The cat is thinking about philosophy, for sure!
I re-folded this model specially for the exhibition in Chi Mei museum. It is on display there right now.

I folded this one a while ago, inspired by Uniya Filonova's model (flic.kr/p/DozFs8). This one is a bit easier, since it has the standard 4x4 grid and the same connection as in Maria Vahrusheva's Regenbogen.

All the origami balls on this picture are indeed the same. The only difference between them is the styling of the loose parts. First you assemble the central one, and then you can style the complete ball to the left or right versions. All you need to do is peel some loose paper and style it! The left one may require pincers to perform, if you're using 7.5 cm or smaller paper. The right one is very easy and fast to make.

I think I forgot to say 'happy birthday' to one wonderful and light person, origami artist Maria Vakhrusheva. It's better later than never, so... Happy birthday, Masha! Оранжевого тебе настроения!

Although the model looks very lightweight it won't collapse with the time.

The very easy unit. And I am surprised it gave a nice result, becausegeometrically it's a bit wrong model, that should not exist. Butpractically it exists and is rather nice.
You can fold it from rectangle too. The windows are minimal when you take1:√3 rectangle.

Wish everyone a happy holiday and a lot of success in the New Year!
Moving to another country and working in international team brought me to understanding that every nation and religion has it's own culture and habits. Being in Russia made this knowledge theoretical, but when you work side by side with Indian or Chinese people, you understand that the culture can be very, very different. And despite the difference, everyone can enjoy the happy holiday :) And this year I also even learned the correct way to greet everyone with New Year. It's called "Season's greetings!" ;)
I rarely fold red ones, but this time I felt a strange desire for red one...
The model initially should have looked entierly different, but my first connection method was hard to assemble and... suddenly I turned all the stuff inside out and tried the connection that I wanted to make with this stuff for many years, but always found more interesting things. If you know the stars from "Modern kusudama origami" the connection is the same as there.
On the other side of the ball the connectors are a bit different ;) I'll show them later in my website
