Recently I bought me some very crazy-colored paper. But at that moment I
had no good idea of some modular, which would show the beauty of that crazy
paper. It was very pity and disappointing. So I decided to invent something
very fastly just for fun to fold it from that paper. I did it. Actually
it's nothing special in inventing a spike unit. At about half of the way I
understood, that it's very... familiar to me and that I invented... my own
old model. Epic fail!
I altered connectors a bit (compared to the old version) but the unit is 100% the same.

I'm thinking towards diagramming it and am still not sure. It can be assembled without ue only with this hint flic.kr/p/fwjrHy and the paper proportions... are strange! But you can use rectangles of proportion 1: X, where x > 2/√3. The longer the rectangle, the less are flower and the begger are the gaps between units.

The basic idea is the same as in Tomoko Fuse's book about solid shells. But this time it's modular form in the form of modular :) hehe

Other interesting thing is surface paper effectiveness (the percentage of the paper which is shown at the surface). It varies for various proportions:
1:√3 --- 50%
1:2.4 ---58%
1:3 --- 54%
1:4---56%

I had an initial idea for this unit long ago. I even tried to fold some very close unit 4 years ago. I've never shown it, because it looked terrible. Too thick. But recently I found this unit in my storage and understood I should use some other type of connection, and it looks very nice, and it's no more thick! I like it.

I did not fold much modulars for a long time, but this one caught my
attention with a bit unusual pocket and flap placement.
it's not very stable during assembly, but definitely stable when finished.

For this model, I used a striped pattern paper and I liked some parts of the stripes more than others. The parts where the units intersect look like flowers .❤️ 紙はストライプ色がきれいで、こういうふうにアレンジしました。ちょっと変わったかも知れません。(笑)⭐
