IBEW 569 members working for National Electric Works are working on “East Tower Substation replacement” at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, a 16 month project. Workers on the project are Foreman Travis Krahel, JW Mark Hooper, JW Justin Miller, JW Jason Bowler(not pictured) and Apprentice Jose Nieto Predomo. The project is to renovate and replace an electric room from 1970’s, which provides Normal and Emergency power to the 1970’s East Tower addition to the hospital. Which includes providing power to patient rooms, Operating Rooms, surgical equipment sterilization and much more.

IBEW 569 members working for Baker and NSW are building the new Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Office Building in Santee. This is a smart medical office building with renewable energy, battery storage, full controls and full automations at the medical center. Keep up the great work!
“The medical center will be a three-story, 86,000-square-foot building, offering primary care, pediatrics, OBGYN, lab services, pharmacy, radiology, urgent care, an optical shop and a large fitness room for physical therapy.”

University of California registered nurses walked picket lines Tuesday, May 8, and Wednesday, May 9, in a sympathy strike with other union co-workers at the University’s five major medical centers and 10 student health centers. This sympathy strike was called in solidarity with members of AFSCME Local 3299, who struck over their collective bargaining contract dispute with the UC administration. A third union, University Professional & Technical Employees/CWA members at UC facilities also participated in the sympathy strike.
This is the first time UC nurses have walked a picket line. A 98% majority vote by RNs authorized this historic sympathy strike.
