Мартовский снегопад.

Всю ночь и утро шёл снег. Пока не поднялся ветер и не скинул с деревьев остатки мартовской весны Санкт Петербурга , я вышел из дома…

March snowing.

It snowed all night and morning. Until the wind picked up and threw the remnants of the March spring of St. Petersburg from the trees, I left the house ...

Captured this from our camp site at the Three Cliffs Bay. Didn't expect the colors to turn out this way. Thanks to the strong wind I guess.

Have a great weekend my friends.

The best things happen unexpectedly...

Sometimes the most beautiful thing is precisely the one that comes unexpectedly and unearned, hence something given truly as a present.

A crazy evening a few months ago.

Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!

A different take on this encounter.

On our last night in the Grand Teton National Park, I had scheduled for us to be at Schwbacher’s Landing at sunset. This was the first location we visited prior to making our way up to Yellowstone NP a few days before. We shot this location at sunrise (I still haven’t posted any of those images) but I really wanted to see what kind of light I would get at this time of day.

I was actually shooting the scene of the mountain range about 30 yards down to the right when I decided I had enough of that spot and that we should head back a little to get a few more compositions from back closer to the trailhead. As we were shooting, a single moose came out of the pine trees and walked all the way to the marsh in front of us (about 20 yards away!) and those amazing sunset rays were peaking over the range.

Snow + Sunrays + Moose = Jackpot! We saw in total five moose on our few days in the park and it really made our trip. This was our first time seeing them in the wild. The others were all males with big antlers over near the Gros Ventre area. That is a story for another day.

Flickriver

After posting this pic of a clematis macro I noticed a visitor hiding. Can you find it?

She glides through her domain, the snow falling softly on her flesh, not melting simply waiting for the soft breeze to caress the snowflakes off her skin. A warm smile is elicited from her lips as a chance encounter brings her before the noble creature of her forest.

We didn't really remember we had this iris in our garden, but suddenly it was flowering!

It must be an excellent year for irises!

Not quite how I had imagined the architecture to be in the Mongolian capital

Small and pretty butterflies (polyommatus bellargus and aricia cramera I think) seeking nectar of marine thistles in the botanical garden.

This is one of my family's seven pet dogs. This good-looking female canine, however, was not what I intended to photograph when I went out with a camera in my hand. Finding not even a single interesting subject to shoot, I then started to walk back toward home. Unexpectedly, this dog, named Kirei, came up to me. And the rest of the story is this head shot of her, which I snapped when she momentarily looked up, directly facing me.

Taken in Subic, Zambales, Philippines.

Yes, today I bought another analog camera, I kinda like them :b

+ I took photos of butterflies

+ I took photos of cameras and butterflies

explored! #11

This 10 point white-tail buck was just off a road in the park, could only reach my camera with the small zoom.

Looking suddenly at this pictures gives me the impression that something is wrong with my eyes :-)

Its been 14 months since I have seen a pine siskin and was hoping to see some this past Winter but no dice. So I heard that familiar buzzing sound in my yard two days ago and went to get my gear and then four siskins showed themselves but only for a minute or two and then ...gone.

The Jungle Babbler, also known as the Seven Sisters, is a bird species found in the dense forests of Southeast Asia. These birds are highly social and live in flocks ranging from six to twenty individuals. What's interesting about them is their ability to establish complex social structures within their flocks.

Each flock has a hierarchical structure, and each bird holds a particular status. The leader of the flock is the dominant bird responsible for making decisions and ensuring the welfare of the group. Jungle Babblers communicate through various whistles, songs, and calls. This intricate communication allows flock members to stay connected and coordinate their activities.

Jungle Babblers are renowned for their social behavior and mutual care. They often assist each other in finding food, defend their territories from other flocks, and collectively care for their offspring. Additionally, when a Jungle Babbler bird dies, the rest of the flock performs a special mourning ritual, which is a rare occurrence among birds.

This fascinating bird serves as a remarkable example of social organization in the animal kingdom, providing insights into the complexity of their relationships and communication.
